how do i find out it the alpine chm s611 cd changer will work in the c class, its from model year 1999 or 2000

Start by going to the right forum. The 1999/2000 C class was a W202 and very different, specially the radio systems than the W203.

the cd changer is from 1999/2000, for a 2005 car, i know MB uses alpine, wondering if this one would work in new car

Yes it will work fine. You will need a new head unit though.

You can use an FM modulator and then duct tape the CD changer control buttons to your steering wheel. Now if you are asking if it will work directly with the HU, no, that's connected via fiber optic, different than what was used in the old W202 cars.

Huh? My 1999 W202 used a fibre optic CD changer. This started in 1998. If a CHM-S611 was used in a 1999 model car, it would have to have been a W140 S-class using an adapter module.
