2002 C240
Center LCD display
Bought a replacement LCD display off Amazon for $75, two weeks ago for my 2002 C240. Installed it, worked like new, except for the polarized sunglasses issue. It lasted two weeks, and the Arizona sun cooked it. Now it has a woven burlap look to it and is nearly as difficult to read as the old one. Anyone else had success with aftermarket replacements? This was only available from MB as part of a replacement gauge pod, for $2200, and has been discontinued.

90 VW Corrado g60, 07 New Beetle Vert triple white & 09 Escalade ESV Plat LOL!
That would literally be called vinegar syndrome. Acidic acid is being off gassed by the PCB in the heat. You can probably smell the vinegar on the old panel.

It’s been a long time but the fix is available online by purchasing a new sheet of EL film. In our Corrado we were replacing the film on the OE gauges with clear, and blue vs the standard green.
Backlit gauges were made, handmade PCB boards that lit up illuminated needles from Audi cluster as well as reversed EL film that requires a light source to be visible during the day.
You made it this far replacing the board once. Try replacing the film this time
