questions about the awful sound system...
I did a search on this, which answered most of my questions. I just can't believe how bad the sound system is compared to my last car, a Honda Accord. Even on talk radio, it sounds thin and tinny.
So if I take it to a pro aftermarket installer, what's the deal with the warranty? Is your entire warranty voided, or just the sound system? If it's the latter, I'm willing to take my chances. I can't imagine waiting 'til my 7-year warranty is up.

Search the forum for the MB Audio 10 CD, it's a factory CD HU from Europe that's an exact fit for the cheap factory radio. A lot more bass, richer fuller sound and in-dash CD to boot. Find them on German ebay for under $100 euros.
Or you can go all aftermarket but to make it right and use the steering wheel controls, the bezel kit, harness, antena adapter and new HU, amp and speaker it can cost a good amount, probably $1,500 and it still may not sound as good as the Audio 10.

Or you can PM Imperial C320, Ed, as he is trying to sell his. What buellwinkel is referring to is good but be prepared for added extra expenses. Most will not want to deal with paypal and would prefer a wire transfer of sorts which is expensive. The other option would be Steve, MBenzNL, who sells them with a 3 month warranty.

There is a guy on a german forum I frequent as well who is trying to sell his. He appearently also moded it to have an AUX input.
