I am glad you finally got your Christmas present for which you already paid in August!

As soon as you feel like being up to some new toys, just yell... and we will be happy to help you further.

And yes, I heard you kind of 'screwed up' my schedule for Saturday, but... no hard feelings... Although Mark asked me why on earth I scheduled the appointments the way I did. Hmmm, next time you want an appointment in LA, I will give Steve and Dean one entire day to work on YOUR car, and half a day to work on other cars... I am sure that will work out great! :p

greetingz,

BigSis

yeah, for my COMAND upgrade and Sirius install you may wanna clear a whole day. :p

it all worked out fine though. im glad they were able to squeeze me in on sunday. if my car wasnt sucha pain in the @$$ to install, your scheduling wouldv'e been fine.

Why didn't you think of that when you bought the car in that color?

Just kidding, you know I like that color a lot!

BTW, comand and SAT radio are NOW on the future install list! We'll keep in touch!

...I don't think we worked that long on your car...right? You went home at 11 on saturday but that was after your car had to make place for Carlos's sedan as installing bi xenons in the rain wouls have been a bit too much...

As for theNokia 6230...it is not the 6230 that blows fuses...completely unrelated to the fuse...we had several nokia 6230 UHI kits to install and it appeared that the US software in the phone is not UHI compatible (we did install one kit with euro 6230 and one with an asian 6230...which both worked). For this reason dean bought douglas's phone and we'll use the phone to test software changes with.

Why the fuse keeps blowing in the 203 coupe is something I really don't understand...it cannot be the UHI PSE as that same PSE works perfectly in other cars (208, 210, 209) and it is unlikely that it is the wiring in the car as it works with a Nokia 6310 PSE...ah well, time to get my laptop back to life and start digging through WIS.

Douglas, enjoy the new toys (as that is probably what they are to you )

Doug,
what phone did you end up getting ?
I take it Dean & Steve had a cradle for it already ?

also, do you have the part # for that other frame piece ? Looking at it when Dean was putting everything together, it didn't have a P/N engraved on it, but you said you had the invoice somewhere to dig up. So, in total it's 3 pieces, (not counting the interior felt floor compartment provided by MBenzNL where the cradle & Tele-Aid buttons go).

Having seen Dean put the new armrest together, I think I can install it myself, or just wait til I get my UHI kit next year, and have Steve/Dean do the professional job.

I should of given you some more $$$ so you could order my set too !
Is there a Part # for those too ????

Where did you get that bad control unit from ? I'm about to order mine for my PTS, but wan't to make sure it's for a W203 (if there's such a thing), not W210. Yikes !!??!!!

yes they do have several cradles already for the SonyErickson T637 phone. it's the same phone Dean uses. Dean bought my 6230 Nokia from me, is going to continue testing with it, to try and get it to work with the cradle. even though the cradle and phone had the same software version it didnt work. he opted for me to buy it back from him, once he gets it to work.

yes, the part number for that frame with the felt is 203 680 02 34. that part is not required, but since a tab broke off my original during the install, plus the new one was new, he used that.
thre parts total

armrest: 203 680 08 82
panel: 209 683 04 08
frame: 203 680 02 34

i do not have that part number. i talked to tom from caliber and he is going to order it for me. ill place an order for two, an extra for you.

the control unit isnt bad, its not for a 203 chasis. its for a 210 chasis and 210's apparently dont use canbus controls. thats why it wouldnt shut off, dim at night, etc. also steve's DAS couldnt see the 210 unit. he had an extra in marks garage. steve took the part and let me have the new unit. he said sunil gets his parts from him. it was a misunderstanding, but it all worked out in the end. dont worry about a 210 unit, im sure it doesnt happen all the time. specify 203 and youll be good.

The 6230 is the phone that works. The 6230B does not work. "US version" of 6230 has no bearing on whether the phone works or not, as both versions are sold here in the US. It is just the 6230B is more common as it works with 800MHz networks. Please be aware that when we say "the 6230 is supported" that means "the 6230 is supported", not "the 6230B is ALSO supported". Mercedes is pretty specific about this stuff, like the 7250i is supported (not 7250 no i) and previously the 6610 was supported (not 6610i, but this has now been included).

steve set it to off. he also disabled the beep if the key is in the ignition. he says thats a US feature. the icons im not sure wher they are found. Sunman p[osted instructions how you can find them, so you can give them to the dealer. steve knew what i wanted and did it. i really like it. as stated before the passenger side icon does not show up unless there is a passenger in the seat. its really cool

Oh yeah Doug,
your instrument cluster gauge bezel looks really good in silver. It really compliments the interior trim !

I really don't mind the beeping chimes so much, but I must admit that the seatbelt warnings in the MFD really look pretty cool ! I will have to make a note of that next time Steve comes around with his DAS.
Man that thing is cool !!!

here it is plugged in to my wife's C320 Sedan:

Exactly. Steve's still trying to convince me to get the Comand first before I get my rims. But I just can't justify it yet (even though Comand would be cheaper to get first).

Be careful when selecting the Sirius receiver. There are two versions, one for D2B fiber optic cables, and another for MOST. Be sure to get the one that matches your COMAND.

Ask me how I know this? I had to return the wrong type, and get the right one!

im sure ill get the right one. steve will be doing my install, and he knows my car. plus he has to do some extra wiring im told because the 2003 D2B was not set up for SAT radio and even though i now have the 2004 COMAND, he has to do some extra wiring in order to get it to work im told.
