Preemptive CPS change on a M111Evo from 2001?

Hi
my C200K is from 2001 and still on the first crankshaft position sensor (110.000 miles), I measured the resistance on cold engine to 640 ohm (my new has 680) but that means not much, because they fail when hot and suddenly. .
Unfortunately to get to it on the M111Evo seem to be no fun, not to say, no idea how to get to from the top.

What are your opinions?

Thanks

23 years in December, 260K miles, and mine hasn't failed yet.
BUT I do keep one with me, just in case.
Along with a complete set of tools.
And I ordered a spare screw and washer way back when.
Just realized, better add a magnet to that toolkit.
Had it (CPS) for years. Lord help me if turns out to be the wrong one when I do finally need it.

Good idea to put it in the car so that you have a chance to be on the road on the same day, because it will fail somewhere.
It looks pretty rusty around it, some penetration oil could be helpful.

I spent 1 hour to get to the sensor from the top. You can get to the bolt E8 with several 1/4 extensions. I could probably get to the sensor with long pliers but no idea how to detach the connector. I think it is more likely to get to it from the bottom.

Pre-emptive is probably not a bad idea. Especially in my case.
Only problem is sometime the new parts aren't as good as the originals.
If it's made in EU probably OK. China? Hmmm. The one I bought is a Bosch, not from the dealer.
Do me a favor, when you get it out, take a photo and post here, so I can be 100% certain I have the correct one.
I think I will do what you suggest and change it.

That's my concern too that the new one is not as good as the old. I don't think that the new part is not produced in China now, whatever brand is printed on. The location is very bad at the M111Evo a metal bracket.blocks access from the firewall side to it. Will take a picture of the OEM.

From the bottom I can barley touch it with my fingertips, the starter motor blocks the way. So, I give up, or somebody has a idea what to remove to get to it.
