OBD plugs??
I asked here some time ago what was OBD, now I'm in the "business" I tried to search the post, but no luck, to see if I could find a place to buy OBD plugs to connect to my car.
Anyone knows where to buy it and how much it cost (software and plugs)?

Like I said before, this is a U.S. requirement and standard, don't know if it will work in Portugal but I got my PC software and cable from www.obd-2.com for about $129. Prices vary based on choices, for that price it will work all cars except Ford and GM.

If I get the software, it's needed a speciall hardware beside the obd cable to connect the pc or I can conncet it directly to pc??

Sounds like the perfect software, my guess is that it won't be cheap, specially when they don't offer prices on their website. Let us know how much, my guess, being more of a Star Diagnostic type system, it will cost into the thousands of U.S. dollars.

I don't know. I don't think my car has a huge round connector like that. Mine has a 16 PIN OBD2 compliant connector that's a 2" by 1" under the dashboard, just behind the hood release lever. It has a cover that flips down. These are not ordinary cables. The polling that a computer would have to do to keep up with all the information it puts out is too much for most PCs so they integrate a circuit in the cable that polls the ECU and returns information back in a suitable manner. So I don't know how compatible the cable I use would be to your software. If you want, I can test it for you with my cable, just need the software.

My car have also the 16 PIN OBD2 compliant connector under the steering, that huge round connector is for connecting to the diagnostic plug under the hood, but in the site was also an OBD cable.
The software its around 80mb, so, How we could manage it?
do you use any P2P software?

carchip?
Has anyone used the carchip product from carchip.com? You leave it plugged into the OBDII connector constantly and only remove it when you want to analyze the data from it with a PC. Seems like it would have benefits beyond an OBD tester since it could be left in waiting for failure codes as they happen. It also logs driving habits (I think this is its intended purpose, and the failure codes are a plus).
