Went to get Xm today on my 05 ss, They wouldnt install it
Hey guys i have a 05 c230ss and went to get Xm today at Best buy. I bought a commander unit and went to the install bay, They asked my make and model of the car, when i said MB they said sorry buddy they use fiber obtic wiring and its only a dealer install. I was like wtf so i still kept the Xm figuring id find a lil more info on here or give it as a Christmas gift, Anywho does anyone have xm or siruis on there car? and if so what unit is it so i can get it....Thanks alot Guss

I have a BLAUPUNKT America SR04 SIRIUS Receiver.
but then again, it works on my 2003 and 2004.5 MB's.
Not much info is out on the 2005 MOST fiber optic set up.
Everyone is a "Guinea Pig" at this point.

I dont have command wish i did but i kinda got suckered in buying the one on the lot rathering than ordering, I called Mb they want around 1,300 for the sirius thats about 1,000 more than i wanna spend lol

I work at the good guys car stereo department... Usually Best Buy and Circuit City would not work on any europeans cars. because they might have Fiber optic in the customer car. or if the car have an upgraded sound system like monsoun, bose, HK, any upgraded sound system they will not touch because it might mess up the preamp that is in the car. That is why you should bring it to the good guys we back up our work so if some thing ****s up then you can bring it back to us...

Sounds like they don't know what they are doing. The Comander hooks up via it's FM mod to the antena. Try a different store like CC, they installed my Pioneer XM system in my MB to the factory radio, no problem. There is a way to do AUX in on that radio but you'll have search for more info. That I'm sure they won't know how to do so you may have to attempt it yourself or find a more custom installer.
