Ugly taillights!

Maybe not ugly, but definitely plain! This is probably very trivial to most, but the taillights of a C-class sedan as seen from behind at night are soooooo generic looking. Just two little rectangles. Has anyone else noticed this? Anyone ever thought of a way to give them a more distinctive look? I know aftermarket taillights can look very ricey, but has anyone ever seen a pair for the C-class sedan? Has anyone tried changing which bulb does what, i.e., switching the wires going to the brake light and taillight? At least the brake lights have a triangle look to them! What about wiring both the current brakelight and the current taillight with dual-wattage bulbs, so they both glow lightly as taillights, but they both glow brightly when the brakes are applied? I know I'm grasping at straws, but I just hate how plain they look now

Once somebody looked to replace them with Altezza stuff. Was that the old you? (j/k)

I think you would have to hook them up in parallel to maintain voltage and illumination levels. That would also play havoc with the computer in regards to malfunction warnings, light bulb out notification, etc. I don't think its a strict wiring issue. You may have to fabricate new busbars in addition to R & R the correct housings for the bulbs.

coupe taillights

I'm on a kick to remove all color from my silver c230 coupe. I have already replaced the side markers with clear lenses and stealth bulbs. Are there any clear tail lights and colored bulbs for the back end like there are for the side markers?

Thats the first thing I noticed the first night I brought my car home. Tried hooking it up parallel with the brake lights, no luck, malfunction warning. So after several trial...gave up. Besides its not worth all that time for something that you yourself cant see most of the time.

Just take the bulbs out of your tail lights, the brake lights automatically come on as substitute lamps.... ....seriously, they do! Although I'm not really suggesting you do this!

In the same vein, when one of your front indicator bulbs blow, the fog light on the same side becomes the substitute lamp, but MB saw fit to send it a lower voltage or something when acting as indicator so it almost glows orange.

Now that's clever!
