no start

awhile ago my key quit turning in the ignition, for a couple weeks it was only every once in a while but it got worse and worse over those weeks until it wouldn’t turn at all. i got irritated and stopped and put it up for a couple months. i then finally got the key to turn, once i did it would not crank. Once i got the key in the on position i was able to start the car by jumping it by touching the starter relay. I pretty much have fixed the problem with the key not being able to turn but now the cluster isn’t powering up like it should when the key turns on. there is still power just not as if it was turned on. sometimes it powers up most the time it doesn’t. On the picture the blue connector that plugs into the EIS when i had unplugged it the cluster immediately turned on since i left the key in the on position. when i plugged it in it was like i turned the key off but i didnt. ive been able to get it to power on with it plugged in its just way more tedious like theres a short somewhere but there isn’t that i know of. is there a way to bypass the EIS to where i can maybe wire in a power button/switch to jump the starter relay once the key is in instead of touching it. or if anyone can tell me why it is acting like the key turns off when the blue connector is plugged in and powers on when it’s unplugged. if all 3 connectors are plugged into the EIS and i jump it through the relay it starts basically every time but now it’s the problem of getting it to power up with the key on. also it will not jump with the “key on” if the blue connector is unplugged.

It is likely that your EIS has bad solder joints. Best to get it fixed before it quits altogether.

If you or someone you know is skilled at soldering, do a touch up on all the possible spots on EIS PCB.

be very careful around those copper windings at bottom of pic. They power the key and breaking a strand on them could stop everything.
