Supercharger oil change
Supercharger oil change
So I have a 2002 c230 with Eaton m45 supercharger and want to change the oil on it.
I’ve heard different things online about doing it. I know it takes 110ml of oil. And people have said fill it till it starts dripping from the bottom thread, and that that’s the fill line.
but other people have said that the supercharger is at an angle or tilted or something, and said you can’t get the full amount of oil in it unless you take the supercharger off.
i wanted to do it while the superheater is still In Because it seems way easier.
does anybody know which is true? I want to get the correct ammount of oil inside.

Can't really go wrong if you suck out the old oil with a syringe and fill until it spills out. Some oil is better than no oil.
Not sure about your specific supercharger, but on the subsequent model the supercharger does slowly lose oil over time (through leakage I assume). Just like your model, the "correct" amount is slightly more than the "spilling out" amount. If you're that worried, just jack the front of the car, or park facing uphill. It's not necessary to get the exact amount in there. My understanding is that overfilling is the bigger problem for these things, as it may blow out the seals.

I agree with slammer111. It's better to suction out all the oil you can, and get some fresh oil in there. I couldn't find in my records that my supercharger oil had ever been changed by the dealer. I did the suction method and measured the amount that I could get out and it was only 55ml. It was very thin and black. I filled it with 55ml + another 20ml. I'll change the oil again to further dilute the old oil remaining. There's a YouTube video of a guy who used a borescope during this process and I think it might have helped me do a more thorough job getting more oil out. This is the oil I bought for replacement: https://www.ebay.com/itm/155331741997
