Headlight mod

I know someone used to sell a cheezy color-coded piece of plastic for the outside of the old frosted c-class headlights that gave a quasi-E-class look. Has anyone with the newer clear lens headlights thought about taking off the clear cover of the headlight assembly and either painting or placing color-coded UV resistant vinyl decal material on the flat chrome area between the two "lobes" of the headlight, giving the look of separate lights? The clear cover would protect whatever you use on the chrome piece from the weather, etc. Here's a sloppy pic I made as an example...
