Height setting on H&R Coilovers

Hey Everyone,

I just installed H&R coilovers this afternoon. Man, what a pain!!! Several little things had to be modified..and I'll fill you in on it when its all over. (Still have some tweaking to do tomorrow.)

My question is for anyone that has this same kit on their cars. At what level are your spanners adjusted to on the shock? 1/2 way down, 3/4ths of the way etc etc? I put mine at 1/4th from the bottom and man its SOOOO low...I'm rubbing with stock sport wheels. This is a big surprise to me since I had the H&R CO's on my M3 at the lowest setting and the drop wasnt very much at all. I want the top of the tire to be even with the fender, I don't really need a super ghetto drop with tires tucked in the fenders

Thanks for any help!

Andrei

Top of the tire even with the fender? Already too low for this car - unless you only want to go straight w/o turning .

Well, I'm aiming for a look similar to this...as far as the wheel gaps are concerned....perhaps since I'm on 17's and these are 19's that may not work...

ideas??

No I have not, and the spring is indeed rubbing in the lower settings. (It's not driveable currently.) I'm attempting to adjust the ride height where it wont rub and see if that level will still provide a sufficient drop. H&R is back-ordered on spanner wrenches so its going to be slow going without one. What size spacer did you get and what brand?

Thanks so much.

It will depend on the tyre brand, size, and the wheel offset. Some member here can reach lower setting without spacer with 19 inch rims which has an offset of 30.
In my case, I also have 19 but my offset is 37 (same as stock), i was not able to lower it until i use 15mm spacer.
To make it safe just leave the ring adjustment (just)above the tyre, this will leave 2.5 finger gap between the fender and tyre, which is low enough.
