i was told a new master cylinder was not really nessessary. its only for super high performance which most of is would never do.

my car might be at tws in walnut on weds-thurs, if you want to check it out. but other then that my car is almost at all the bigger car shows.

Can you expound on that? Is your pedal throw much longer then before? How does pedal feel compare with before?

Im am VERY interested in this kit for my car.

C32 AMG
Wide203: I like the car. That body kit looks good. Who makes it?

Brakes look awesome, but a word of caution.

We looked at fitting E55 brakes on W203 several years ago. Parts are fairly inexpensive from the dealer, however there is a problem with added unspung weight from going to 14.2'' rotor and 8-piston caliper.

I do not have exact number in front of me right now, but it is approximately 20 lbs. per corner when going from C32 brakes to E55s and close to 40 lbs when going from stock 240/230/320 brakes to E55s. Now add new heavier (10-20 lbs. per wheel) 19'' wheels and heavier (3-10 lbs. per tire) tires needed to clear the calipers and one could easily add 150 to 200 lbs. of unsprung weight to the car.

Unless suspension is retuned at the same time, the handling and steering response goes out of the window. Plus exta weight is like carrying an extra passenger.

Other brake kits, like 14'' Brembo are actually very close in weight to stock 240/230/320 brakes and lighter than C32 brakes. New, 05' CLK55 Front 6-piston caliper, 13.6'' rotor - rear 4 piston caliper, 13'' rotor kit, looks to be a lighter and less expensive alternative, when it comes out next month.

thats for the comment, the flares are custom by autowerks in el monte.

in my opinion the brakes are a lot better when trying to slow down at high speeds ( i had the c32 brakes before this ). 40 lbs extra ( from both brakes )is not too bad, a sub and a amp can weigh that much (not including the box and stuff). as for the weight from wheels and tires, lots of people have 19's anyways. so theres nothing really special there.

the 14" brakes are more for looks anyways, the c32 brakes are good enough for a stock w203.

its like why anyone would buy 19" rims over a lighter more practical 17" rim.

i was told 380 wouldnt work with my rims. only rims with speical cut puts could pull it off...

if you got 20's there are 390mm rotors.

Your car is HOT. Very nice!

Just an FYI, 40lbs at the wheels = ~160lbs added to the car, which in turn = a loss of ~16HP. That is the way the ratio's work. Sucks, I know.

However, like you said, for a car that is mainly show, it looks great and it is a hell of a deal!

I am also really anxious to get the 6-piston ones in and see what they look like!

Thanks and good post!

Brad

Best guess is about 20lbs heavier. the weight is all in the rotor. We are working on a trick 2-piece rotor for that caliper, that would make this whole conversation moot!

Thanks,
Brad
