2005 C230 Coupe Opinions and Pictures

Hey everyone, I am new to MBWorld, and I have been searching thru the threads looking for any information about the 2005 C230 coupe. I have found quite a bit, but would like all of your impressions or information you can give me, especially if you have driven/own it. Do you guys like the 6sp manual? I really like the new updates MB did, especially the new interior. Also, any of your pictures would be very appreciated.

Thanks!

I have an 02/6speed. I like my 02, but the 05 is fantastic. Good luck finding one!

I think the Coupe interior is nicer than the Sedan even. Ok, you get some extra lights on the wheels, and the cool inserts on the doors, but you have to suffer through a roofliner made of mousefur. It just screams GM.

Only let down on the Coupe 1.8 visually, is the presentation of the motor. Its rather dull compared with the visual appearance of the older M111(2.3) and 3.2L sixes, to say nothing of the C32 or C55, both of which look very cool under the hood.

I have summarized my impressions of the 2005 Sports Coupe (some of which I have posted in various threads on this forum) in an Epinions review that you can find here. Prompted by your question, I have included in that summary review some thoughts about (A) 2005 vs. 2004 coupes and (B) 2005 Coupes vs. sedans. Hope you find it useful

I will never get over the black trim around the stereo and the silver trim above and below it...just looks odd to me.

Otherwise, nice interior.

Think of it as something for the aftermarket, an aluminum bezel for the headunit. I agree that if it had the same aluminum trim as the rest of the console(Surround the buttons and display, like the HVAC controller is), it would look a lot better, however not all C CLass cars have the same console trim, some have the fake looking real wood, some have nice wood, and some have various types of aluminum. The black radio matches with anything.

Still, its nice. I'd trade interiors and suspensions. I'd take a pass on the M271 motor though.

Yeah but the older models still had silver/wood surround to make it look like it was all one dash...the radio itself was black, but there was still dash color around it...and it matched.

Ok, fair enough. They didn't have to drag the bezel out the edges. Perhaps its the same radio as used in say, the E Class. I dunno. Boy, is that new shifter knob ugly though, eh? How many D batteries go in that thing?

Just came home from the Detroit Auto Show and was told no 05 coupes coming into the US unless special order. Lots of 04's left and no 06's to come. Canada might follow US lead. Sales don't warrant the model being sold here.

You can get an 05. There's no extra cost in keeping the vehicle in the US lineup. Its already certified, and its going to be in production regardless. Your detroit auto show dude is a classic MBUSA STOOGE!
