rim vs. pothole....

roads out here in kansas city suck..... last night hit a pothole going 70mps..... ordered a new rim today....

i went to a local wheel store to see if my damaged rim could be fixed... and he stated that they could not fix it becuase the machine they use requires a lip.... so my question to all of you is....

is it possible to get this fix?
has anyone had one of their rims fixed?
how much did it run you?
and would you refer them? (id consider shipping it off to fix if highly rec)

i would like to get this rim fix and use it as a full spare....

so what do you guys think?

thanks
carino

Yeah this could be fixed, I have even seen worse get fixed. It should run you between 90 bucks to 130 on an average. Try another shop

You might since it doesn't appear to be cracked. But be forwarned; it could crack on the repair prior to refinishing.

I did the same thing to my rim... just bend it back or buy a replacement. Pay another hundred bucks and get a new one.

That looks fixable. Try another shop. Did it bust a belt in the tire?

Thumbs up

i JUST used wheels america... they do top notch work... i dropped off my wheel, came back the next day to pick it up, noticed a hairline scratch on the FRONT (damage was the same as yours but on back side) that wasnt there when i dropped it off caused by tooling i imagine, anyhow, they re painted and delivered to my door next day by 9am.

When I bought my car, I thought I was suckered into buying their Tire & Wheel Insurance ($399 for 5 years). It covers any damage to rims or tires by reimbursing the cost of repair/replacement. Well I've been *****in about this coverage ever since I got it and figured I would never used it and don't know why I even added it (prolly because the saleslady was smokin hot and I wasn't really payin attention to what she was sayin ).

But anyways, I was drivin back to town the other night and hit a HUGE pothole goin 80mph. I swore it sounded like I hit a metal wall b/c the whole car shook. I pulled over and took a quick look to see if my front wheel was still there, it was dark out so I couldn't tell, so since everything looked ok, I was on my way.

After I pulled into my garage, I had good lighting to do a better inspection. Turns out my front driver wheel was bent very badly and it had a 4" crack lining across the wheel + the tire had two huge eggs on it. God only knows why the wheel was still in one piece and the tires didn't blow out.

So I call MB in the morning and they said just bring the car in and they will take car of everything. So now I take back every freakin thing I said about the insurance! It was worth every penny!

I drop my car off tomorrow and even get a loaner car. :p

Exact, there not exact, you have "" style wheels... whatever, it doesn't matter.

The wheel and tire coverage tranfers to any wheel or tire that is on the car.
