Right Low Beam Warning

Ok, so I retrofitted some BIX and had Steve install them for me. I had it for a few weeks already but now I got a low beam warning on the right side....sure enough, when I went out to check, the light was out. My buddy said that he had a similar problem and all he did was change his fuse from a 10 amp to 15 and has worked perfectly fine since then. the only problem with that is he drives an american made car and not a benz so that might not apply but I'm probably going to try that out anywats. The next obvious thing to do is to change the bulbs because maybe the bulb went bad. I did a search but found only one other similar situation but I didn't get any useful information from it. Does anybody have a solution that I can try? I hope that there isn't anything wrong that is major because I don't want to shell out more money for a new assembly but if it comes down to it, I might have to. Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

I have the same problem with my 1997 E420. Still trying to fix this thing. everybody always says to check all the other light on the car first. all mine work except the fu#$&*! right front. check all your bulbs and look for loose or damaged wires.the bulb sockets should be clean and not melted or bent or dirty.

I hope you did not have the same problem as I did...when mine went out I thought it was the bulb too..got new bulbs but still not working. Lucky my gf just bought her 05 with factory Bix. After swaping her lights and bulbs, I found it was the ballast. Now that I have it fixed and it has been running fine since. SO I would suggest you swapping the bulb from the other (working) side to see if its the bulb. If its not...then swap out the ballast and try again. Good luck.

How hard is it to change the components like the ballast? does it involve taking the whle headlight assembly out? I'll try swapping the lights to see if it is infact just the bulb because that would be the simpler case....it would have to wait till tomorrow though.

The ballast is on the bottom on the headlight unit, so yes you will have to take the whole light out. So I would suggest you test the bulb first. Also, make sure you dont have a blown fuse before you do all the work removing the lights. The ballast is held by 3 or 4 screws and it pops right out...its an easy swap. Good luck.

is the fuse for the lights inside in the cabin on the driver side or is it in the engine bay? I was reading my owners manual and it doesn't say much except for the locations. Hopefully it is the fuse or bulb....I'm gonna hate having to take off the bumper

Damn....I checked my fuses earlier and nothing is wrong with them. I just switched the bulbs and the right side is still not lighting up meaning that it has to be either the ignitor or the ballast...now I gotta replace one of them. I dreaded having to take my bumper off since it takes a while to do it but now I'm going to have to. I guess I can swap the ballast to see if it is the ballast...dang it

update on mine: They replaced the bulb, and it was working at the dealer. Took it home and started it up again, light is out again. Not sure what the hell it is now. They've replaced the control unit (ballast?? something else?) and now the bulb.

crappy thing is that the new bulb is more yellow than the original one.
