CD and DVD nav

The models had a CD based nav and new models have DVD nav? Is there a difference between the two and what are they? Is it possible to convert a CD based nav to DVD?

Why yes of course you can. There is no difference as both of them use those shiny metallic discs. But if I were you I would wait a little bit. They are coming out with some new technolgy. You see, those little discs can't hold enough. Thats why they are putting it on a magnetic band. The problem at the time is that this technology requires big spools; 7" or 10.5" depending on info required. But not to worry. I've seen the advanced versions for next year that doesn't require trunk mounting and they managed to reduce the size and packaging by putting the endless loop spool in a package approximately 6" x 2.5" x 0.5".

I am not sure what you meant by difference. Well to point out some of the differences that I know of, the DVD based nav holds a lot more data than CD. On a cd based NAV you will need a stack of CDs for maps. Where as DVD has only 1 disc and holds the entire US map. I am assuming you were asking about the OEM comand, the new DVD comand has a lot more functions and features on searching (such as extra address/phone number/intersections/Point of interests, etc) and I heard the DVD routes faster than CD (that someone may have to confirm that). As far as converting CD to DVD? I dont know man, it may be done but could cost you a lot, I mean what else is impossible when transexual becomes possible? Hahaha. Since you have a C32 thats a CD based nav car, I dont think the new DVD comand will work on your car. But you can always get an aftermarket DVD nav. I just got the Eclipse ANV2454, cant wait to get it installed.
