I blame rap music!
Seriously, you don't see Nelly or P-diddy 'rollin' in a C230SC with 28 inch 'blades' on it.

PS: 'doctamb' must have a data entry job or something... you CAPS people drive me Nucking Futs
nope no data entry for me sorrrrrry budddyyyy. Just chillin this month waiting to see which MEDICAL RESIDENCY I get into ........nyc hopefully baby.... first month off in yeaaaarrrrrss and enjoying every minute of it shootin the **** about mb's wit you bozos. HOW YOU LIKE THEM CAPS SUCKAAAAAAAAASSSS ----> lol just kidding around with you guys.
Funny you should mention that, I was driving to work this morning and thought: imagine buying a SLR for $xxx, xxx and it being "out-dated" a few months later...[/QUOTE]
Do you think it is ever possible for an slr to be outdated...... are you kidding. I mean lets say that mb goes crazy and does come out with slr #2 An slr is already an instant classic. when I meant outdated..... you have to exclude cars like this and maybe an sl 65.... other than that..... any model will be prone to this constant need to remodel, then again so's bmw, lex, audi etc.
it's a viscious cycle that will never end and probably only get worse.

Buy an SLR... then 6 months later MB releases its "super-dooper" SLR-SD edition that is redesigned 'even better' with a 2000HP engine, and 3 cup-holders instead of 2... for the same price... I'd be pissed... lol
Valid point, but I meant more along the lines that there is always something better out there....

Naturally aspirated 1.8 VS 1.8SC, let alone the 320SC?
I think that this should help retain a little more value. Perhaps not a HUGE way, but this should make it comparable with the 230SS for depreciation.
Least you forget the only year with the 2.3l M111 coupe. Single year, first year in this country... ! Originally Posted by Deutscher_Wagen

I am sick to death of the Sedan vs. Coupe debate. I am glad this has ended and those who love the coupe, hopefully all have one. It's a great car with tons of personality and purposeful styling. Others may see it different, but every time I look at that pic of my coupe on the track with the M Coupe and the C32, I am ever so proud to be one of those who own and love this car. I've always been into cars and attended and drove my father's "other" cars to car shows with him. I love thinking about being 45-50 and pulling my "period modified" 2002 C230 Sport Coupe into shows.
I think we are truly lucky and with the direction of the MB line up, I am glad I got the one I did, the year I did.

Here is what I got back from MBUSA:
Dear Mr. <me>,
Thank you for your recent internet query.
The C-Class Sport Coupe is not longer being produced after the 2005 model
year. Please contact your local authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer for
availability.
If we can be of any further assistance, please feel free to call us at
1-800-FOR-MERCedes (1-800-367-6372).

I wonder how this agrees with the fact that the C Coupe will still be available in Canada and other countries.

ExploreHa, I did...that was what I was looking at, but people wanted rediculous prices...saw one for 20K used at the time, and
C230 was 25 base new. And the maint was free...
later the used car market tanked....
but the C230 was a deal at the time...
ah, but NEXT year, 2003, you could have bought a C320 for 22k! Damn.

Wow, the SC removed from mbusa's website...feels kinda sad. I'm really disappointed with the lack of advertising for the SC. I've only seen one TV ad for it, and it was pretty dumb too. It was really short. The car had maybe less than 5 seconds of air time. Some "price is right" type ad...
MBUSA needs to get off their high horse. I wonder what the ad campaign for the B-class will be like if/when it's finally released.

(and I apologize....)the B class ads will probably look like they're clipped from some pseudo-sub-reality show off of empty-v (aka mtv)

Well listen guys, I love my C230 Coupe. Its my first car. Its one of the amazing Benzs I ever drove in besides whippin around in my moms S500. But its cool to know I own one of the 4year production cars. Sorry that it ended. But im not feeling the B-Class. I think thats is worst unfortunatley. Far as Sedan Vs Coupe Issue. Everybody buys there car for different reasons. I feel that my coupe is hot. I dont see many of them on the road too much, mostly sedans. So I feel special. I love the pano roof which is a good feature. So I am happy. Coupe Fans hold on strong to are whips. Dont feel discourage what other people are thinking. If other people was buying your whip and buying you things then I would be concerned about there opinion. But they are not. Remember its still a Mercedes Benz no matter if its entry level. Dont worry about what other people think.

The thing is, the car is NOT OUT OF PRODUCTION. Its just the wimps at MBUSA, are no longer importing it.

I am just another Nu B. However this thread has meaning to me. Accourding to MBUSA, I was told that the c320 that I ordered in Nov. and picked up in Germany on Dec. 10th was THE last one for U.S. consumption. Car is still being made for other markets untill its replacement later this spring. My C320 is black opal, 6 speed, has wood grain instead of alum., seat warmers, panarama roof, black mb tex interior, and 6 disc changer. Will post pictures on picture thread over the weekend.

All coupes are no loonger imported. This includes the 230 and 320... I would also think that the future 350SC will not make it to the US.Originally Posted by revstriker

That's a very nice car! I am hoping to, hoping to acquire another 2002 Coupe to turn into a full race car. I was considering doing it with this coupe but there's a lot of emotional investment still. I do plan on keeping at least one as long as possible. My dream garage; one full race, no option '02 coupe, '02 Coupe with C43 conversion, my e30 which is in the shop now getting some work done, and a current late model DD... I don't like the direction of new cars in general. Too soft, too "driver friendly".Originally Posted by bahnbrnr

I drove the e30 over to the shop with bad front struts, a blow out right rear upper strut mount, and it STILL handles better than anything current I've driven in terms of driver feedback and control. I can't wait to get either fully race prepped.
EDIT- I still don't think it's a shame. It won't ever be a 100,000 collectable, but they're ours. The coupe was set up to fail and did. I paid full price for mine and would've paid more. Compared to the MB line up at the time, the only other cars that would have suited my "need to have" requirements were the CLK and CL, niether of which possessed what I wanted. The CL was out of my price range and too "big fish" for me. I don't want or need all that "genius" in a mechanical car. The CLK was terrible. It was not worth the sticker, not on it's best day.

I couldn't belive it my self but from what i hear MB is bringing in 10 new models and discontinueing the C-class coupe. 2005's will be very rare and there will be no 2006. so a mere 3 yrs of production... has any one heard of the volkswagon corrado, its a rare VW "sporty coupe" that only 18,000 were ever sent to the US over about 4 years. Dej-Vu. looks like we may have a rare car soon our selfs. start the clubs

4 yrs of production for US:
2002 with the 2.3L M111 motor
2003-2004 with the 1.8L M271 motor
2005 with the M271 Motor and updated interior/exterior
the C-Coupe kinda looks like a Corrado as well. i like them.
