05 and 06 c230 Manual Tranmissions

I heard that the 05 c230's and the 06's have different manual transmissions than the old ones. I checked out the 6 speed slk350's and the new transmissions are heavenly. I haven't seen any 05's with the manual transmissions, so i'm just wondering if they are the same as those in the slk's, or at least improved over the older models 02-04. And does anyone know if the 06's will have the same manual transmissions as in the slk350's, cause that would be really sweet.

Not sure but I wish I could bolt up the 05/06 Manny... I hear it would require some fab work though.

I'd like someone to show me its a different transmission. All Ive seen so far is a new single rod shifter, vs the old two cable shifter.

I'd settle for removing the auto and replacing it with just about any manual tranny... even the old MB 4-speed long gear ...LOL

I thought I was done with the 'modding' and 'drive hard' days...

I was wrong!

When I bought the car I opted for the auto saying to myself, it will be nice for traffic and if I feel sporty I can always switch to tip-tronic. And since the tip-tronic doesn't respond as quick as I would like it or remember, I sort of regret it (see the 'what do you regret... blah blah" thread).

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my car!!!!!!!!

Some days when I'm rocketing through Colorado mountain canyons I think to myself how cool it would be to have a 6spd tranny. You know how it is, the grass is always greener on the other side kind of thing.

Actually, I am very happy with the 6-sp and even in rush-hour traffic jams have no regrets, not for a minute. So, my own resolution is - no auto trannies while both my feet and hands are in working order

Thanks for the feedback guys, but no 1s had an answer to the question. Are the 02 - 04 transmissions cable, while the 05-06's are rod? I don't know too much about transmissions, i just know the 6speeds on the new slk's are amazing, and hoping that the new c's might also have the same 1.

I'm pretty sure the 05's are different. this car shifts a lot smoother and easier than my 323i and there is more power in every gear.

The first gear sucks. The last time I went to the dealer the SA saw my stick and said it has a better manual tranny than the previous ones. Not sure if that's correct.

yeah first gear does suck, you might as well shift at 2k rpms cause it's pretty much useless
