C32 AMG - in Pewter
The only three advantages I see are:
* power windows knobs are much better positioned. One does not have to reach down and take eyes off the road to find current buttons.
* engine temperature gouge is readily visible, unlike on my 2003 W203 where you have to switch screens
* some may like the blue as it is more current dash light colour
The rest is not good...

I agree with the majority of this board, the new C-Class looks terrible. The interior is almost as bad as that of the C32; no offense to anyone, but that is the reason I didn't get the C32. I really do not like blue light for the instrument cluster. And the front end on the new C is truly horrible -- I can't buy a car without sexy front fenders. In my opinion, the Mercedes design department is slipping big time, or has been recycled from Chrysler pre-merger -- perhaps the AMG version will be better.

Let's be realistic.
Maybe it's just not possible to make an integrated, impressive interior when you have a smallish car and lots of buttons, vents and screens to accomodate.
Then again, maybe it is possible. Name that interior:

It's pretty clear that MB is favoring a luxury look over a sporting look.

I love Audi's interior.. mmm RS4 ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
As for the new C class, interior it self doesn't look luxurious. It looks tacky and cheap with faceless(no display) CD player.
But then, that's just my opinion

If the MMI contains the station/track information, then the CD player has to be "faceless." I think the cheapness comes from areas of flat gray plastic. Plastic is a practical substance but not an attractive one.

I like it better than the NAV in the W203 because in the W203, the NAV screen would light up everytime you start the engine and you would have to turn off the screen display if all you want to use is the radio or CD. Somebody at MB realized that and improved the NAV in the W204.

Actually the buttons on the center stack look....off, and the steering wheel is also very ugly, quality is supposed to be better than the W203 but I don't really like the styling of either very much.

i dont think the design is that bad - its the color scheme that ruins it - so bland and boring. like driving a hearse. the only escitment comes from the NAV and blue from tach.

I think the W203 sedans and coupes have a distinctive look. You barely see one and already know it's an MB.
The W204 only looks like an MB because of the star on the grille.
If you photo-shopped a Lexus, Infinity, Toyota, etc. etc. logo on the grille; who would know the difference?

I have sat in a W204 C350 one day ago at Geneva Autoshow. I must say I am very very dissapointed by its interior, it looks very very bad and lots of "golf" plastic everywhere....as well as really disgusting design of dash...![Frown](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Forget about luxurious feelings...this is an overpriced "golf" interior...

Is it just me or does the W204 headlights look similar to the previous generation Lexus IS300?

Out Of Control!!
Well, at least they finally dropped the two-digit tach numbering, which was always a pet peeve of mine, and made it larger as well. Those are the only positives I can see about the interior. Not that I was going to get another Benz anyway...

Well, the point on the bottom of the center console looks like it is right out of an Accord, and I agree with earlier posts that the use of plastic makes it look like a Civic. The agressiveness is right from a BMW, or dare I say Chrysler?!?!
I do give Benz some credit for finally including some items that always should have been standard like sunroof, power seats, etc... Even ADS is standard according to mbusa.com--look under "Future Models"
I heard that the speedometer is actually an LCD monitor (like the new S). If that is true, that is cool. I would like my next car to have an "All Glass" (aircraft term) cockpit--seems like they are getting close.
I am not nuts about pop-up NAVI systems. They look like an afterthought. Considering the Comand screen will probably be necessary for audio information, it will always be popped-up. They should have really integrated it somewhere.
Finally, what is with MB getting away from climate control with a digital read-out. My GL has this LED dial system, and it is not my favorite.
Comparing this to my former C's (W202 and W203), I really believe that the best interior execution was the W202. Throw a Honda "H" on that steering wheel, and it would be completely believeable that this is the next-gen Accord.
Well, that's enough of a rant. I am sure it drives great, but what a disspointment on the interior.

At first I hated the pop-up nav screen, but I like the one in the Audi A8. Although the Audi one is concealed behind a lovely wood panel, this one is strange the way the plastic cover still sits on top even when it is open. Horrible design, horrible interior....Mercedes should be ashamed.
