test drove the new C today :)
Ok here is my feedback after test driving the new C class in Cairo, Egypt today. Mercedes-Benz had the C-class launch for a select group of people in Cairo today. And I happen to be one of them, since I pre-booked. Yup 5th merc in the family. So anyway, After a long wait in line (about 1 hour) it was my turn to test the c200k (there was also a c280).
They take you through a pre-determined course where you test out braking, acceleration, slalom, sudden lane change, and a bunch of other driving manuvers. Overall, the car reminded me of my fathers 2007 E200K, they both have the same engine. Although the C-class seemed a bit more stable. Suspension definetely better. But I was completely disappointed at the options that Mercedes Egypt has provided. No Command. No parktronic (optional) 5 spd transmission (7G available on C280). And a bit of other lacking options. A sales manager did tell me however, the AMG package might become available so I might go for that.
The funniest part of all this to you guys is when you hear the price. Base price for the new w204 C-class in egypt with the 200K engine is a little above 70K USD Yup I know. Taxes up the wazoo.
Anyway, just thought I'd give my feedback.
Oh BTW, I booked a C200K classic, and hopfully I'll add the AMG package and change the rims, once the offset become available to 17s or 18s Oh and the white color with 2 tone dark red and black interior is really nice.

In terms of handling, the new w204 is a bit better. the Steering isn't as mushy. More crisp. And I kinda like the feel of the new steering wheel.
As for shapes, I'm gonna miss the w203 shape. And what I heard that the w204 coefficient of drag is a 0.3 as opposed to the w203 0.28 so it is less aerodynamic.

Mercedes really stepped up their game. Sound proofing is much better. The egnine is not new, but it seams the construction of the interior is.
