Hybrid in C
Wouldn't it be cool if in 2009, the C-class got the hybrid from the gl450 which produces around 340 hp but still produces 30mpg. That would not only be an awesome response to the flagship 3-series but it would also blow away any competition with the superior mileage. I doubt, however, that benz would do this as this is the flagship hybrid engine btu it would be so cool if it were true!
The E-Class with Diesel in US spec gets well over 30 mpg, and has the acceleration of a gasoline engine. Imagine this engine in a C-Class!
Hybrids have been the subject of some recent criticism, since they often do not achieve their EPA-rated mpg. Diesels, on the other hand, often exceed their rated mpg.
I presume you mean in the North American C-Class, since the rest of the planet could buy a V-6 Bluetec engine two years ago in the W203. And of course now in the W204.
