Build Dates
Delivery would take 6-8 weeks after production.
My C300 order was substituted for an existing stock order. It had to be a stock order in which the Multimedia package could be included and that's what happened.
Probably common practice.
Is this a dealer problem or a factory problem: I ordered on August 25, and it is now pushing October 1 and we still do not have a build date.
My first dealer (local) told me there was a shortage of leather at the plant which was a complete lie. So I went to Mercedes of Chicago where I was told I would be given a date within a week of ordering, then I was told 'around the 15th of september is when we are given our allotment' and that I would know then, and I wrote my salesman yesterday and still haven't heard back. I know that he works both days.
thoughts? If I went to ANOTHER dealer could I get them to take over where the Chicago dealer left off? I mean with the priority of having made the order over a month ago? Or if I go somewhere else will be as if I'm starting over. This has become such a bite.

the information i have is that each dealer all over the world is alloted a certain # of build slots each month. they then fill them with orders, take inventory for what they want, then sell the rest to other dealers with need.
my guess is that your dealers either are completely booked up with orders that you didn't make it in the last month's allotment and they are putting your order into the oct builds.
