Tilt
<<Yep, they tilted on the one I drove yesterday ...
the selector was on right, and tilited as I reversed ... it did not go back up when I put it in drive though ... maybe if you drive forward for some time it goes back up? Not sure.>>
You are in CANADA. Seat memory is an option in Canada. The right mirror tilt-down is managed by the driver's seat memory module.
All of us who are *****ing about no seat memory live in the US. Eh?

Memory, losing it...
<<RLE - seat memory comes standard in both 300 & 350's in Canada.>>
Right you are. It's Keyless Go that's optional. Or was it Parktronic?
Rub it in......

I had ML, E and C class....but neither of them has this function..i dont know why....
BMW does it for all 3 5 and 7 series
i hope Mercedes-benz can get more friendly function for driver..
Even the new C-class....the gas door is plastic too...i dont know why....a over 35K car with plastic gas door.....><......(i notice it from my sis's new c350)

E class has tilt down at reverse. It is quite useful. MB disabled this function in E just in this year, however the function is still here and can be enabled by a dealer. I think MB intentionally stripped US version of C to keep E class sales high. You know that E class can be purchased $2K-$5K below invoice, then C class is strictly MSRP. People really like new C and will buy it regardless some minor option misses. People who are more concerned about parktronic, keyless go, memory seats, tilt down and so on have to buy E class. It is MB opinion, not mine.

Actually, memory seats is only standard on the C350. On the C300, it's part of the Premium package. From the brochure:
C300 AND C300 4MATIC™ :
harman/kardon® LOGIC7® surround sound system.
In-dash MP3-compatible CD changer.
SIRIUS Satellite Radio.1 10-way power adjustable
front seats with 3-position memory.
Power steering column with 3-position memory.
Rear window sunshade. Integrated garage door opener.

2008 - S550 4Matic, 2010 - E350 4Matic, 2010 - C350 4Matic
I have a C350 with memory seats. To set up the right hand mirror I put it into the proper position and enter it into memory. Then I put the car in reverse and I adjust the mirror downward as I like it. I put this into memory. Now I am set. On reverse the mirror tilts downward and after I go forward at some speed, lets say 10 KM/HR the right hand mirror returns to the normal setting in memory.
It could be that the mirror settings for forward motion and reverse is set at the same position.
Hope this will help.
Jorg

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
It is possible without memory seats if you have a right door module from a car with memory seats, and a position sensor on the right mirror assembly that tells the door module where the mirror is facing. You program the front SAM to allow the function, then put the car in reverse. Move the mirror to where you like it, and shift to drive. The mirror should move back to the drive position at about 10mph. When next changing to reverse, it should return to the setting it was at when you last visited reverse.
Parts are probably not available in the US, but should be no problem in Canada or Europe.

Personally, auto tilt side mirrors are an annoyance to me. Its good when parallel parking, but how about when you want to see whats on your side when backing up in tight spaces!?!

Yet more on tilt

Nonsense. W203 C-Class with memory seats had it as did pre-07 E-Class.

Then you flip the switch on the mirror adjust. By flicking it to the drivers side it will automatically tilt the mirrors back up. Just FYI. They work good!

2008 C350 & other fine MB products
Maybe MB should have thought forward instead of backward and made half the mirror tilt down and the other half remain as is!?!?! Suits everyone that way lol.
Yeah the commercial on the w204 also said doors can hold the weight of two big guys or whatever - what a feature
, i'll remember that when i need to escape from a car jacker and he's happily hanging onto the door as its swinging about instead of on the floor a mile behind with a face full of wing mirror!!!!

You know some people don't even know how to disable the mirror tilt function when they don't need it and whine about how this is an annoyance... and god knows how many of these retards are on W204 focus group... no wonder MBUSA is removing this function.

Tilt? But non.
<<The car that I test drove has the mirror tilt function. I am sure.>>
Then it wasn't a new C or E-Class.

Tilt
<<and I'm 100% sure it was w204. it was c300 sport actually. I don't know about MB that much, but I know MB's models well.
>>
This subject has been beaten into the ground but one last time:
W204s for the United States market do not have memory seats and therefore no mirror tilt down in reverse. Regardless of mirror switch position or anything else.
The fact that other models, past or present may have this feature has no bearing on this question.

Sometimes they shipped demo cars with different features so that is possible. I have seen a C300 at a Canadian dealer with Keyless Go, which is not supposed to be offered here.
That said, if you are offered a demo car with mirror tilt-down, or memory seat, or Keyless Go in US... for god's sake turn down the offer unless you flip it for a few quick bucks... there are enough wrath on this board people will mob you and steal your car in no time. Sadly, this also holds true for Canadians driving their Keyless Go, memory seats, C230 / C230 4Matic / C350 4Matics to the states.
