Hi all. Newbie here. Just ordered a C350. Clear Guard?
I'm excited but not excited about the wait. Anyway, I just gave a deposit on a C350 (Obsidian Black, gray interior, PII, MM, 18" AMG wheels). and the dealer had something on the invoice called "Clear Guard" for $285. I haven't seen anything else written about that here...wondering if that is for real or just one of those dealer add-ons like the old "undercoat protection" or rust proofing.
Anyone know? Thanks.

It should be Scotchguard. Don't settle for anything else. It is a clear adhesive film that they put on the front of your hood, bumper, mirrors, door edges and even the rear bumber if you want it. Based on the price you indicated, I'll bet it's not Scotchguard or you aren't getting it in enough areas. E.g. maybe they are just putting it on the hood? I checked around after I got my car and prices are anywhere from $800 - $1500.

Welcome Newb. Congrats on the car order.
I believe that refers to the clear coating to protect front bumpers, hoods, etc. There is a thread where it is discussed on here in detail. Search the forum and you should find it.

It can't possibly be the clear film. Not for that price anyway ... if it is, you got a steal.
We did it through a tint shop on my wife's car; it was $800 and that was about the cheapest we found. Dealer wanted $1500. (The financing lady chuckled and admitted that they farm their jobs out to the same people who were doing ours anyway.)
What you're probably getting is a polymer wax applied by the dealer's detailing dept and then being grossly overcharged.
