C-> S-> M?
As I was test driving the C350, I notice that you can switch from the C-mode (I believe it stands for "comfort", when the car will start from 2nd gear) to S-mode ( "Sport", I presume, when the car starts from 1st gear). However, when I was reading the C class brochure, there is a picture of the centre console that shows C-> S -> M and then back to C in a circle, next to the control. This is not in the car that I test drove. Anyone knows what this is? M = Manual?

sorry I don't have an answer for your question regarding the "M" mode.
Just wanted to add that based on my experice I've noticed that while in "C" mode, in addition to starting in 2nd gear as you mentioned, the upshifts come at earlier than in "S" mode in all gears and downshifts require depressing the accelerator a lot more as well, when compared to "S" mode. I find using the "C" mode during break-in period, in slow traffic, or when cruising like grandpa. Surprisingly, I don't use "S" mode as much as I thought because I end up "manually" shifting using the side-to-side deflection.
I would like to hear as well what the "M" mode is, if there is one.

Yes. M is manual.
I have it in m.... No, sorry. My girlfriend have it in her C200..
It works like a normal manual transmission and hold the gear You are in.
The gearbox dont change gear until You shift it with the stick.
Well, I guess it will change gear if You are redlining it?.

I would be good to be able to make the car hold the gear wile in manual mode. Do you think the dealer is able to update the software so that it also gets the "M" mode?
