I own 2008 C-350 2008 E-350 2005 C -230 Kompressor 2006 FORd F-350 6.0
While in park change from c to s youll hear a thump
I noticed while in park i change from c to s on the transmission. There a loud thump something changes under neath the car. You will hear a thump noise or feel car shake a little in rear. Curios what is that happen when u change from c to s. Anyone here a mechanic to know what changes occur when selecting c to s. It something mechanical feels under the car

Gearing down from 2 to 1...
The thump is the transmission adjusting. When the car is set to C, the car starts in 2nd gear to ensure smoother shifts. In S, it starts from 1st gear in order to take advantage of the low-end torque.
