quickpark

I just got my new 08 Sport and after having it for a day I realized that when I custom ordered it the dealer forgot to add the quick park sensors....is this something that would be easy to add later?

I tried to add that to my order, but this option is not yet available according to 3 local dealers, the parts won't be available till maybe January, it's a dealer install option so as soon as the parts are in, then you should be able to ask your dealer to install..

Mine arrives in a couple of weeks. My dealer got the QuickPark system a few weeks ago and already painted the sensors. Do you have another dealer that could check availability for you?

Make sure they install the sensors in the place shown in the accessory brochure. Dealers are sticking the sensors too high on the back bumper because in the US there is a metal 'brace' that interferes with where the sensors should be placed. However, according to my dealer, it just takes two minor modifications to make those sensor fit where the accessory brochures shows them. In my opinion, those sensors look ridiculous placed anywhere else on the rear bumper. I don't know if my dealer is just doing me a favor, but I was told that this necessary modification is so minor that it's not charging any extra labor charge to do it.

Also, one other person on this board (I think it was this board) had a dealer charge for QuickPark, but installed some cheap $25 eBay system with two sensors. Make sure you see the sensors - QuickPark sensors look just like the ones on the S-Class and newer E-Class models, only they have a small ring around the sensors which mounts on the outside of the bumper, so they won't be exactly flush with the bumper. But the sensor that sets inside that ring looks exactly the same as MB's newer, small sensors.

When mine comes in, I will post pictures.

As Kieffer said, make sure you tell them you want it installed exactly the way its shown on the accessory catalog...in the channeled portion of the bumper - not above or below like we've seen on other members' cars:

When I got my learner's permit, my daddy took me into the city and spent a Sunday morning parallel parking in smaller and smaller spaces. After a single morning's practice, I can park better than anyone I've been in a car with. No annoying beeps for me.
