This looks amazing! i'm having this done ASAP! how did they match the paint? Is it just a pure black or did you have to give them the paint code from the dealership?

Just tell them that you have 040 Mercedes black (if that is what you have) and they should match. I'm sure just black would be fine as well.

It's very nice!

I wonder if someone here done the same thing on a ARTIC WHITE.

Wonder how it would look like.

Hope someone can post a picture of a painted grill on ARTIC WHITE.

Thanks

Never have gotten around to posting my pics. So here is my P2-Pano-ipod-Multimedia C350 Arctic White w/Black Grill. In the shop to have the Hoen Xenon-Match license plate lights put in. I didn't want to go though the trouble of adding LED's with resistors and all that. Did add chrome door handle housings, Illuminated door sills, and the black leather shifter from a luxury model (the plastic bugged me). Delivery in mid-November, after several road trips around Texas, (and my 62 mile daily commute) I'm sitting right at 5400 miles.

Wow the painted black grill slats look great against the white. I wonder though how it would against a black car?? The shift knob looks great too. What model MB is that from?

Hey Txhurdle. Looks very nice! Where did you get your tint done, what is the percentage, and what did you pay (if you don't mind)? Thanks.

The shift knob you can get from any dealers parts department. It's the shift knob that comes on any W204 Luxury with the black interior. Part # should be #204-267-15-10-9E-38. That and the Illuminated Door Sills weren't the smartest for the money, but I got what I wanted. ($750-ish for the sills installed, $250-ish for the shift knob). Tint is only 35% all around, but is ceramic. Stopping heat is a bigger thing for me than 'the look'. $355 at Park Place. But darker doesn't cost more.

Thanks for the photos it really looks wonderful to have the grill painted black for the white

I would do the same on mine.

Is it hard to remove the grill?

Honestly I think it look better and cleaner compare to the c63 grill which have a chrome in circle aside from what you have done. Your's is cleaner just like the clk.

Txhurdle now you only need to change the side marker on the front bumper once they have clear ones out.

I agree black grill is better for the white w204 c-class.

I hope someone can provide instructions on how to remove the grills properly.

Here's a tip. get your painter to dust the grille with black candy color instead of regular black. once you get the desired color get him to stop and let it dry. the more layers sprayed, the darker it will look. That way you can control the desired color. it's like tinting your windows.

No it can't, because of the different hood I believe.

Thats a great price. The Merc tuner/modder by me wants 400.00 USD to paint mine though he does remove all the chrome before painting then reinstalls it. That must be time consuming.

400 bucks?! Holy **** man. Its PAINT! Got mine painted the same way for $250 plus an entire new sports grill so I can throw the OEM one back in if I want. Find a better shop. BTW mine only has the slats painted. The chrome on the lines and the star is still there. The guy doesn't have to take the chrome off anyway, just tape it off when he paints. Sounds a little shady to me...

I did mine for the cost of masking tape, paint and the time it took to remove the chrome and paint the grille. Took a 200 mile trip Saturday and not one chip in the paint.

Here is a how-to if you want it:
