Anyone unhappy with their Stock Radio (not MM pckg)

OK, so I'm one of the fool who didn't get the MM package and the stock sound just terrible! When I use CD player (single of course - #$(*), the sounds are acceptable, enough highs and bass. But when use the sirius, the sounds just like cheap radio. What do you guys suggest I should upgrade?

I went to this local store, they recommended turn the bass all the way down and then just get 2x10 JL sub with 300/2 amp. Because I don't want to change the stock radio (and lost the steering control), and the fact the radio is fiber optic, that would be the best way to go. Is this true?

Please chime in.

Might want to search the threads for sirius radio. I recall not long ago someone else was experiencing the same thing with the sirius radio sounding like mono. Not sure what the solution was, but it could be some setting is messed up. Might mention it to your service advisor there may be a service bulletin on it, or it could be an internal setting they need to set with their computer. Sounds odd that regular sound is alright but sirius is sounding bad.

Personally, the stock sound system is more than ok with me, even the Sirius system output.

... And that's coming from a previous G35 coupe owner with Bose sound system.

I'm another one who has no problem with the stock system, including the Sirius part of it. In any case, the sound system is the last reason for me to like or dislike a car - all that matters to me is how it drives.

I've heard the same thing through the standard radio in my C300.

Some Sirius stations are heavily compressed while others aren't as bad, but still not as good as a well mastered CD.

If car audio behaves the same way that home audio works, then upgrading the total sound system is likely to make the poor quality Sirius stations sound even worst as a better sound system are more reveiling of a poor signal.

My advice would be to save your money and verify that your Sirius is working as it should (try other stations and have your dealer check it out).
