BMW went through hell with the introduction of all these "toys" and paid dearly for it with poor ratings.
Lexus uses only well established features and got a pad on the back for "quality".
Mercedes-Benz now thinks, the fewer things are available the fewer things can go wrong and deleted them slowly. Most people wouldn't even notice.
The BMW had a telephone as standard equipment and these phones caused many complaints, what did MB do, perfect the phone? No, they don't supply a phone, so nothing can go wrong and if you get a phone and it doesn't work, don't go to MB to complain.
They call that marketing
