Anyone not tinting their windows?

It seems like everyone is tinting their windows. I was always told that if you tint your windows and change your wheels, it lowers the resale value of your car? Is this true?

Probably depends where you live. Here in Minnesota most cars are not tinted, but when I'm in Arizona EVERY car has tinted windows. In other words, in MN tinted windows may not be desirable but in AZ the buy would probably prefer it already be done so they don't have to do it.

On another note, don't most tints come off fairly easy today?

I've tinted cars I've owned in the past, but I think the higher you move up the totem pole in cars the cleaner it looks without tint. I personally miss the subtle light blue tint that came on the W203 cars, wonder why MB got rid of this?

I think it all depends on what type of tinting or other mods you do. Normal 50-35% tint jobs probably would not hurt the value at all and probably would help in certain areas like the previous poster said.

Just keep in mind that 5% tint jobs, lowered cars and 20" rims may look great to you, but they don't to the vast majority of second hand MB buyers so you might want to avoid that if resale value is important to you.

I plan on putting a 35% tint all around on mine.

The rims might lower the resale value but If you got rims and tint, they are NOT permanently there. Tint can be removed pretty cheaply under $50 and it looks back to original. The wheels can be removed easily too, when you are ready to sell. I'd say go for rims and tint

Interesting point. I did contact my dealership and asked before I applied 35% tint all around.

They told me that is a non-issue. If the buyer wants the tint it is an asset, if he doesn't like the tint, MB will remove it with a hair dryer and they said it's a minor inconvenience to do.

I think the car looks great with tint and is more comfortable in the sun, protects the interior and hides stuff the kids leave in the car.

Hey Jorg,

any pics of your ride? Could not find. I'd love to see the 35% all around, and know what brand of tint you used ... I'm doing the same soon (hopefully)

Thanks!
