I was going out to eat with my wife and when we left we started the car but the we could not move it out of park. The lights were not illuminated on the gear shift pannel either...I had to call road side and have them walk me through the manual unlock....its in the shop now but for anybody who might ever encounter this problem...do the following

pull the boot (leather around gear shifter) to the left and it will come off. at the bottom of the shifter there will be a yellow tab. press that down and it will allow you to shift out of park

 

Thanks for the heads-up! That's one of those things you'd hope you never need to know, but you'll be glad you do if you every need it.
