Question

I recentley ordered a c350 and wont be expecting the car until sometime in jan or feb. I've read quite a lot of threads on this site but i have not seen one where people have commented on the ride of the car. I live in upstate ny but i'll do most of my driving in nyc. I wanted to know what people think of the car's comfort level and the overall feel of the car. Also, if anyone is from NYC, how does the car take all those potholes and bumps? I own a 88 560sl benz and it takes them like a champ. The ride and comfort level is awesome. Just wanted to know how the c350 does. Thanks a lot.

p.s. the above 560sl that i've mentioned only has 27K miles on it. White exterior/red wine interior. perfect condition. thinking of selling it but i the resale value on these cars are not much. however i will listen to offers if anyone is interested. Thanks.

So far so good. I drive in Manhattan and all the other boroughs. My car is pretty much built like a tank. The ride is very smooth. Mind you, you WILL feel the bumps with the sports suspension. It is... only... natural.

I'm living in Toronto, but spent a lot of time in and around Manhattan... the roads are pretty similar. The suspension on the C350 Sport is tuned towards the sporty side but not harsh like the E90's. It handles potholes with more composure than my TL. You will notice the solidity of the car especially when you go over bumps.

Just don't expect it to ride like a Lincoln Town Car...

I've got the 18" AMG's and the ride is slightly stiff but not rough if that makes any sense, I do wish it was just a bit smother as most if not all bumps and road indifferences transition through the taught seating surfaces. No squeaks or rattles though surprisingly, will see how it does in the long run though.

He didn't mention if he got the 18" wheel option, but I would advise him to be careful of those potholes. With the low profile and virtually no sidewall, could end in costly repairs.

Car rides great and handles very well. I've had to test the ESP once when trying to avoid a deer on the road at 70 mph at night and it worked like a charm. Was righted and back on course right away.

You'll be fine in Manhattan with it. Try driving with 19" or 20"s in the city, that's a whole different story. Also, avoid the road off the GWB to Major Deegan, a hot wheels car can catch a flat with the craters they have there.

Yeah how about that....I live in a very urban area, but occasionally get out to the country and those suckers are everywhere.

Stupid creatures too, ordinarily you need to watch out for them on the smaller country roads, but this one was standing in the middle of a 4 lane highway. I was glad that night that I had the xenon lights (to see it just that much quicker) and the car that helped make sure I didn't lose it when I swerved so suddenly.
