Are you serious? I haven't seen a post reporting a single problem. New C is solid rock car.

Sorry to hear about your issues, but unfortunately these things do happen...I love the questions I get like "so this car is new and will have no issues, right?"...I almost always answer it open ended, b/c if you dont, you're just asking to stick your foot in your mouth.

Call MBUSA and ask them about it ?, some serious defect. Also tell them you will be posting about your expereince on all the forums with pictures ? Finally if that does not work post in Yahoo Finance forums under Benz stock page. Lot of Big guys check this. Also with this send a letter to Mercedes parent company. Make sure to get a good document of all the problems, almost a full page of the problem, pictures if possible ? Write a good story about your experience. VP's and higher ups dont like this type of **** on a new car, so very high chance they will help you out. If no one is responding to your problems by posting on Mercedes Stock forums you will catch attention.

Here is the deal you paid for a product and you expect it to work end of story.

In fact, the parts content on the new C is mostly GERMAN, just because it is assembled in South Africa doesn't mean ****.

Hell my GL550 was made in AMERICA with the parts content being from Germany for the most part. Get your head out of the sand.

There are several points to consider in this situation:

1. We do not even know where this car was built.
In the case that this car was built in S.A.
2. Was the failure due to a defective part or improper assembly?
3. There is history of quality control issues being more prevalent in non-German plants, remember when the ML was first introduced?
4. We do not yet have enough data to determine which plants have the best quality control.

I would say that the assembly plant actually does have a lot to do with the reliability of the car.

Isn't all of this covered under new car warranty by MB? If your car fails, they are supposed to reimburse you for the damages and pay your hotel fees and what not... So this would be covered I would imagine.

The OP did not say that there was any problems with getting the dealer to fix the car. The fight is to extend the warranty.

There was nothing said about the vehicle being manufactured in South London. And fact of the matter is no matter where it is built, the supply chain for the parts is the same, and the vehicle is subject to QA. I'd say that German and S.A. built cars are both just as likely to have failures.

Nobody likes to have problems with a new car from any manufacturer, but problems due occur.

I have not the slightest doubt that MB will look after you and have your problem corrected, at no expense to you.

Keep us informed

Not that being built in South Africa has any merit as to how well the car is built, just thought I would let people know.

Also keep in mind that nothing is %100 perfect. Mercedes doesn't build the parts, they just assemble them. There is no way of knowing when a part will fail and in your case cause other parts to fail. The good news is Mercedes is a company that stands behind their product and will work with you to make things right.

If your having any trouble what so ever with your dealership, call the Mercedes Benz number in your owners manual. You will be in touch with someone at MB and you can explain what is happening. Then MB calls up the dealership and usually the next day the dealership calls you back wanting to help in any way possiable ha ha. Just try and work things out with the dealership first though, I'm never a fan of pissing someone off that gets to work on your car.

Mercedes may not build the parts, however Mercedes selects suppliers and do selectable quality controls of all parts. Too many failing parts in the same car just after less than thousand mile looks suspicious.

Thats true, no company will keep using the same supplier if they keep making faulty parts. By the way, the only part that technically failed on his car was the belt pulley melting, the rest was chain reaction. He mentions a sunroof motor sounding funny, but it didn't fail.
