My C350 is well past the break-in period (... I think ...) at 1500 miles, and i just couldnt take the itch anymore, last night on the way back from LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) I accidentally cut in front of a 04 Mustang GT, its a V8 correct me if im wrong, really wasnt paying attention for some reason my mind wondered off, i just wanted to merge to the right to get on the other freeway. So I cut him off, he got mad, cuts ME off, and I was like Huh ... lets go, we were both going at 80 mph, heading toward the freeway ramp, which is a BIG U ramp (anyone who lives in L.A would know what im taking about, 605 South getting on 91 East) we both slowed down to enter the ramp at the same time, 2 lanes, he took the outside I took the inside lane, i see him trying to speed up but he couldnt do much but staying at 40 mph, and i thought im the Merc! i got better cornering, i speed up to 55 mph, and yes sirrr did i leave him in the corner of my left rear-view mirror, now just when i thought i won the racing, i see him coming up, so i gunned it, then it was all cry .... he caught up all the way from the back and passed me, and i looked at the speedo meter when he passed him we were at 135 mph, took him like 10 secs tho, then we both stopped at 137 mph or so cuz none of us wanted to get locked up that night lol. Now for those guys who got a C350, we need a better/newer engine ..... i still love my car very much, just couldnt take the shame of losing ........

You have no idea what could have been under that guys hood. Just keep that in mind. 256hp is a healthy sized engine.

Maybe it was a Mach1? You should be able to hang with a GT

If its on a straightaway there is no way you would be able to keep up with that beast (if Mach1 310-hp 4.6-liter V8). But if there was trrafic or lots of bends and curves GT boys would probably kill them selves trying to keep up.

Stock GT does have 300 HP...so he will overtake you in a straight line run. If it really bothers you, trade up to an AMG model.

Nah im pretty sure it wasnt a mach one, just says GT on the back and looked no different than other 04s, and it was 1 in the morning, no traffic, i thought i'd keep up or even win as well lol does really bother me tho, i just had the expectation to win hehe, figured i'd have some fun since there was a chance, an AMG would be a bit too much IMO, and lets not even talk about the MPG with them gas price on the rise

I'd say it was modified. '04 GT's only had like 260hp.

It could have been modded now that i think of the replay of the run, that GT does have different exhaust note ... emmm ....... any kit out for us yet ?

Yeah, us w204 owners are gonna have to get used to having our hats handed to us. This was one of the original and large complaints I had about this car. Everyone told me to shut up. Which I (mostly) did, but it still irks me when I get my clock cleaned by a modded teg or civic, or even some stock high-powered v-6s that are coming out now. Of course, I have the c3004matic, so she's a bit slower than a c350, but the g35x and subie spec.B awd's can haul heiny, why not my Merc?

Just keep in mind that this is NOT a sports car. It is a mid-sized sedan with impressive handling, respectable power and a "sporty" look.

The Mustang is a sports car and should kick some a** if driven properly, especially if it was a stick.

Just because it is called "Sport" doesn't mean it is.

Well, it is a simple formula that you have to burn more gas to get more speed from your vehicle. You can't have it both ways.

Sure it can be modded to add all kinds of hp and increased handling and performance, but so can a Honda Civic and who would call that a sports car, regardless of what it has under the hood.

Incidentally, MB has already modded the car to improve its performance and handling with the C63....

The more I think about it the more I may want to look at that one rather then the new E class in a few years...

Dont feel bad, ill say it was a modified stang. Remember pony can only go straight if you take them off that course of straight line you are a winner. And for all you all who think jap car still take you on the road or pass you like a civic or lexus. Forget it this car like a silver bulit try to catch it. I can tell you it blow a lexus Is 350 .after you pass 70 this car is a bulit i dont understand why. IT pick up so fast past 70 to 110 mph. When they do they back off the lite Is 350 cant compare to the road grip the mercedes has . I have driven both i feel more confident in the c 350 than in Is 350 , after 100mph. So dont worry guys you can also keep up with most street bikes after you reach 90 mph. This car handle rock solid. So next tiem you see a jap civic or lexus dont fear it. One thing thou keep away from bmw that emblem read 335I and you be a happy winner most times.

I thought all W204's were electronically limited at 130? My C300 Sport gets to 135 and the governor automatically down shifts the car and cuts power until you are down to 130 then lets it get to 135 again and repeats. I also have the Contis w/ 150+ mph rating and 18" AMG twin five spokes? Do C350's have a higher top end?

YTD I've been able to take a bone stock '07 V8 Explorer only barely pulling away. A first generation IS300 was pretty easy. Some kid in an old '87/'86 ish Benz 560 SEL huge sedan wanted to go and surprisingly I was able to keep about a car length on that thing the three stop lights we went from.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but every car magazine I've read said the IS350 beats the C350 in almost every category. And my butt dyno confirms it with several back to back test drives.

yep, on lexus forums, someone got their is350 to get 1/4 mile times in the 12's with light mods. stock does 13's pretty easily. i think is350's r limited to 145 or 155
