FYI. Our new C300 Sport 4matic is still in Germany awaiting shipment our way. But our dealer was so kind as to loan us a 2007 C280 4matic to use until our new car arrives. Everything I have heard suggests the new model should get slightly better MPG than the 2007. Today we drove about 160 miles round trip from our home. Mostly interstate miles cruising at 75-80, but also some slow going side trips between stores and restaurants. Total average for the day turned out to be 29.8 MPG. I don't consider that too bad. And I expect our 2008 to do about one MPG better. (Altitude does help. We live at 8500ft, but our trip took us "down" to Denver (5280ft elevation) and back.
Well as I posted earlier in this thread. Mine is at 24mpg on highway with 70mph curse set for 20 mins and this is the best number so far i have seen even at 1600 miles. Typical MPG for from start is around 16mpg(mostly city driving)
As JohnGjolaj1 said I am hoping for better MPG as I drive more.

I have a C300 Sport 4-matic. I cummunte 23 miles to work, mostly highway. I usually get above 22.5 mpg. I don't even reset the mpg. Most days I get about 23.5. I have gotten all the way up to 26.5 mpg. I run 93 octane. The mpg goes down if I go over 80 (about 20 to 21.5 mpg). I think I get the best milage at about 75 mph. It does not do as well around 65. You would think that going 10 mph slower would give you the better gas milage but i have seen the best results greater than 70 less than 80. Lastly, to get the best milage I try to coast in neutral down hills and on hihgway exit ramps. The MPG goes way up that way.

FINALLY!!
I made 27mpg last night.
It didn't take long this time. With cruse set at 70mph for 10 mins, my car hit 27mpg with 2200miles on it.
I'm wondering if 4matic can ever hit 30mpg?

We have had our C300 4matic Sport for one week now. Have put 650 miles on the car. Overall mileage is just a tad over 25mpg. In June we will be driving about 3000 miles to East Coast and back. That should give a true reading on highway mileage.

I have C300 4Matic. After I read a thread saying that C350 made max 30+MPG on flat highway with constant speed of 70mph, I had to test my car. I set cruse control at 70mph on flat highway for 20 mins. Of course, I reset my mpg trip computer as soon as I set the cruse at 70mph.
The result? dissapointment.
24mpg at avg speed 70mph for distance 20 mils.
What's up with that???
My C300 4Matic has not done with break in yet. Still 200 more miles to go.
But, still it's close to break-in and should have decent mpg.
Prior to the test, my avg mpg was reporting at about 18mpg. I guess I cannot complain since MB advertised mpg as 17/23 for C300. But, still I would expect more when C350 has max 30+mpg for same test. Maybe it is because of 4Mactic? (heavier, bigger rear differential gear ratio than rear wheel drive C300 and C350)
Will it differ after 1000miles? At 1000mil dealer check up, will they adjust something that helps better gas milage?

Ok , recently I have been getting pretty good milage. I have a 32 mile commute to work and I am averaging between 28 and 29 mpg. I was shocked when I started getting to good gas milage. It is easy to get to 28 to 29 when I just take my time and set the cruise control at 65. Seems pretty good to me. I am happy, especially since its a 4 Matic. The highest that I have ever gotten was 29.4 MPG. I have 5600 miles on the car now so every one knows how long it might take to get this car broken in to the point of better gas milage.

I first posted in this thread at about 800 miles, and I was getting 18.5 mpg in town in comfort mode. I swapped to sport mode 100% of the time, the engine has 3500 miles now, and I got 20.5 mpg in town the last few tanks. I didn't change how I drove at all, the engine just seems to be breaking in and getting better mileage.

2010 C300 4MATIC........ 2011 C63 AMG.............. 2015 CLS400 4MATIC.....
I'd like to bump this thread!
I have a ~25 mi commute every weekday, ranges from 55 to 75 mph.
On the way back several times (have had this commute for ~2 weeks now) I have hit 28 mpg! And, my highest: 28.9!!!
Completely stock!

Plus this is an old thread, pre-2.0t
I seem to get about 22/24 city 26/28 highway. I'm not complaining, but, how.
There has to be something inaccurate. Ik it is averaging, but I don't see 25 city as normal for a c300?

Average 12.5MPG, as low as 10.8MPG on Sport and manual shifting at 6-7k 1st, 2nd and 3rd around the city all day .

2008 C300 4Matic - last 1,500 miles, 19.9mpg with a good mix of city and highway, some of the highway is stop and go traffic. My 25 mile ride home today was 19.1.
It bothers me, I feel like I used to get 22mpg easily. I have almost 100k miles on the car and rarely get 22mpg.
But when I consider that I do have a heavy foot, redline almost once a day and deal with lights and rush hour traffic, 19.9 makes sense.
I laugh when I think about how S65s get 19 highway, but perhaps in my driving conditions it would get 12.
