New SLK engine in C-Class??

The engines in the works that replace the current lineup are of the direct injection type. From what the car insiders are saying, they could be in cars as early as the 09 model year. Although MB is known for sharing engines across the board, so using the new SLK engine could be a choice.

Most definitely I would say that the 2009 SLK's engine is the 2009 C350's engine also. Remember for 2005 the SLK debuted the new V6 and it is doing so again. Hopefully this will be the V6 of record for the E350, GLK350, R350, CLK350 and C350. Would be nice. The ML350 should also get this engine for the facelift due for he 2009 model year.
However, it seems that MB has no intention of offering direct-injection on a gasoline engine in the U.S. I really wonder why.

Maybe a further powertrain upgrade in a few years to approach 90 - 95 HP/ L.
