Standard Audio System - Disappointed / Options
Had my c300 with the standard audio system that I find not to be so grand. I feel it lacks clarity and bass. Not sure if this is just a defect with the system in the car and will be taking back to MB. I did not opt for the mm package as I expected the standard system would be satisfactory for me.
Should MB tell the system is in fine order, what are my options for an upgrade and does MB have to do the installation? I am not educated in audio sound system and really did not think this would be a factor for me.
I previously had a land rover LR3 with its "standard" harmon-karman system. I do not know all the details on the system as it was "standard". I just though MB's standard would be at least comparable.
Please let me know if there are others that are dissatified with the standard systems and option considerations.
Thanks.

I sat in both standard and MM, listened to FM radios. The standard sounds pretty good, better than my 11 speaker BMW. Clean and good bass. Not sure what your problem is, you just simply describe not enough.... that's pretty relative. I suggest you go to ur dealer and listen to another standard equipped car and see for yourself.

If you plan on having MB upgrade you to an OE audio system (the multi-media ) you are going to spend a stupid amount of money and probably not be much happier. If you go for aftermarket- you have a couple options but are limited due to the fact the headunit and amps are all wired with fiberoptics and do not accept integration well. You could probably upgrade your speakers (saw a C300 with Focal components) but if you plan on adding amplifiers- you need one that accepts high-level inputs (preferably balanced line inputs) or you could use a component like the Audio Control DQL-8 which would convert the level and provide a crossover to seperate full range and bass frequencies. When I purchased my C300 I removed a nationally ranked Sound Quality system and planned on installing it in the new car. I was pissed off when I found out how difficult it was going to be. Good luck.

Judging a sound system is subjective matter. I personally find the HK in my C lacking clarity and clean bass. The bass is allright, they make noise and you can feel them sometime but it's hollow, not very accurate, lack depth and impact. Staging and imaging with the Logic proccesor is good. I suspect it's the speakers they use, what do you expect, it's not a $20K upgrade

Something may be wrong with mine. I have had a few people listen to the system and they agree the sound quality is off and not what would be expected from MB.
I will be taking it in for service and go from there.
Thanks.
