4matic with snow tires reviews??

I'm seriously contemplating a new C Class and I live in the Great White North.

I'm looking for some opinions on how well the car handles bad weather (snow, ice) conditions.

Let's hear them.

Thanks
George

I was very surprised how well my C300 4Matic lux with factory tire handles snow or partially icy road. Actually the 4Matic handles much better than my all wheel drive SUV. For test, I almost floored my gas pedal from standing still on the road that was fully covered with snow. Result? The traction control active light blinked only couple times and I felt like the car accelerated as fast as it was on dry road. never fish tailed, straight all the way. I think I made 0-60 under 9 sec on the snow. Bottom line is.. no need of snow tire for 4matic unless you are planning to race on snow or something.

You'd be surprised how much of a difference snow tires make even on AWD vehicles. Its just not traction taking off but also snow tires offer better traction when stopping over an all season tire.

my 4matic performed well in snow and ice and the traction control works seamlessly. I will still get a set of snow tires as I've found the stock all season tires lackluster when braking on hardpacked snow and ice -- but that's something all wheel drive couldn't fix anyways.

That's true. Stoppng is different story. However, I don't intend to speed if I see snow on the road anyhow. Comparing to my C220 which I had for past 10 years, driving 4Matic in winter is like driving in heaven.

As long as I don't have to worry about getting stuck in snow or tail spin, I am all happy
