Phone hangs up when turning off engine?

This is the behavior I'm seeing. Why wouldn't the call just transfer back to the phone and off bluetooth when the car is turned off?

IIRC, this does not happen in the wife's W221. Phone stays on until end of call.

not sure about for the w204, but my wife's rdx requires the user to enter a voice prompt "transfer call" or else it will end call once the engine is off. might be the same case here.

In my current Jeep (gasp), it automatically transfers to the cellphone once you lock the car doors. A nice feature, hope the C300 I'm planning on getting will do something similar.

Might have to do with the phone. I have a Razr V3i.

I'm using the iPhone and it does the same thing. I keep forgetting about it and hang up on people (how rude)

In the manual it says that you must switch the phone to "private mode" before switching the audio system off.

Anyone know how to do this?

I have a feeling this is going to be a bit of a learning curve. This and the turn signal arm placement.

I believe that it depends on the type of phone. My Blackberry has an option to transfer to handset. Also, when I'm talking on my phone, it will "automagically" transfer the call to my bluetooth when I enter the car.

I have a N95.. And it doesn't do that.. When I turn off the engine.. It's fine. I just think that it has to be in phone mode. Maybe.

Tried it with my Blackberry 8800. When started up the MM system, it took over my call and put it on handsfree. However, there was an issue with keeping the talk path open. So while I can continue to hear the call, the other end was not able to hear me.
