Mers, I have light MB-Tex but I'd really call it "grey" and not "beige."

Truthfully, I think it's great. I take meticulous care of the car. Even still, not having to worry about investing SO MUCH TIME to keep the seats looking good frees me up to be more attentive to other aspects of the interior and exterior.

With leather seats, if you don't spend a few hours every month (in the form of 30-45 mins a week) to clean and condition them, they will end up degrading the appearance of your interior over time.

The ONLY nice thing is that if you do take care of them, if you sell after a customary 3-5 years, you'll get a nice premium and plenty of surprise that the leather is in such good shape. That was my experience when I traded in my S60 for the Benz.

Encoder, thank you. I am not really prepared to spend 45 min a week to treat leather, but on the other hand some people think MB Tex looks kind of cheap. i have not made up my mind on it, but our local dealer does not even have C300's with leather! Apparently not that popular choice?

Correct, at least not on the C-class. I have had leather in just about every other car (3-Series, 5-Series, 7-Series, various M-cars, and my C55). I have to say that the MB-Tex is the best I have seen for the leather look and feel. I didn't think twice about it because a) most C-class have it, so resale should not be an issue, and b) maintenance/cleaning is much simplified. I also didn't want to special order the car because I got a good deal on a 2009 leftover. If I upgrade to an E-class or CLS in the future, not sure what I will do but probably take whatever the majority favors to keep resale optimized.

As others have said, the big trade-off is a slight plastic feel for much better durability. I only wish they would do the stitching so it looked like a leather seat.

IMO, I like the grey. It looks great with the Black/Grey two-tone interior. Plus it wont get as hot in the sun.

I just want to point out to all the people that says you have to maintain leather excessively, that the the people who produce the leather recommend that it is properly cleaned and conditioned using a 2-step process with products that do not contain silicone once a year. Leather that is properly cleaned and conditioned should outlast MB Tex and will improve with age.
