Swap out grill?

Swap out grill?
I just bought a White / Tan Lux edtion for my wife, wanted the sport grill, could not live with the black / grey interior, and most of all the cheap looking aluminum trim inside instead of wood. Now I would like to buy a sport grill and get rid of the stand up hood ornament. Anyone do this yet? Cost of the sport grill and round cover to replace the hood ornament. Easy to swap parts?
Thanks for all replys.

Cheap? Cheap looks like when someone buys a
luxury edition package and puts the sports grill in without the rest of the body package. Don't worry, your wife's car will look great hahaha.

MBUSA build your own is saying $200 from the parts department, but its a good idea to call the parts department and double check as MB has a habit of stating prices on their build your own that are only available if you order the option when ordering the car.
By the way the silver trim grows on you. I too said the same thing when I first saw a black interior sport with the silver trim. When I saw the grey/black two tone sport interior I had to have it, so I figured I would either swap out the trim pieces when after market parts came available or just live with it, but now I've grown to love the silver trim. You don't get those dang water spots on the silver trim like I always got with my wood trim, you know those ones that you can't see till the sun shines on the gloss and then you notice them ha ha.

Sport grille swapout
<<Seller on Ebay has kits starting from $200.>>
After the latest price increase, dealer retail for the Sport grill is $190 and the hood medallion is overpriced at $50. Minus any discounts you may be eligible for. Three months ago there was a Sport grill kit which included the medallion for $170 locally and $146 from Caliber Motors. No more.
I ordered the parts today and will get at least the 10% MBCA discount and maybe more since I am a long time customer.

Perhaps it would have been easier to buy the sport and replace the cheap aluminum trim with wood. This way you would not have to do bodywork to fill holes left in the hood from the stand up ornament.
However this would have required some pre-thinking. Since you just called many of our cars cheap looking I'd say your not much on pre-thinking anything.

Double check yourself, only the Sport has the flat hood badge and the MB Star is placed in the grill.
The Lux has a pop up MB Star coming out of the hood. Unless it is attached with PSA holes will be there.

The star and the medallion are interchangeable. No body work is necessary. What is PSA?

Cheap? Sometimes. Depends.

Hmmm. Struck a nerve, sounds like. Your comment about pre-thinking (I would call that research) before buying might apply to many posters on this list. it's called Buyer's Remorse. "Oooo, if I'd only known......."
Take a look at most of the magazine road tests of the W204 and most are critical of the interiors. The latest Automobile places the W204 dead last (of four) because of it's slippery Conti tires and it's other cost cutting features.
The new Consumer Reports was less than thrilled also although their criteria is never from an enthusiast's point of view.
