Door Lock Pins

The door lock pins on the new C are cheap and I don't like the way it still sticking out a lot when locked. Where can I find a shorter and better one beside eBay? Thanks.

I actually think that the eauropean ones don't stick out at all when locked and stick out as much locked when the american ones are unlocked. When I get mine, I look to make this modification.

There have been a couple threads on this, but it seems no one has had any luck in changing them out? I was just about to hunt down a thread today and see if there were any updates, but this does the trick. I have tried the unscrewing method on my car and on a few in the show room but no luck. When I try unscrewing them they just feel like on solid piece of flimsy plastic that will break off if you twist too hard. Some have claimed you just unscrew them, but I would love to know how..which direction do you turn them..is there a trick to it? There are lots of after market designs that would look awesome in there. Heres a link to some, assuming they are the same size as the w203 pins.

I bought some from ebay ($27 including shipping).

Problem 1: The picture on the listing looked really good, of course, but once in my hand they looked really cheap. Way cheaper than the plastic OEM ones. I can post REAL pics of the product if you want. The pins are actually a hollow weightless tube that feels like its going to break from the sightless pressure. Also, the paint feels like a thin chrome coating that will start peeling off anytime. If after reading this there are still people that want to go buy from ebay (or ebay equivalent stores) I recommend you ask for pictures from all angles (specially from below) before purchasing). Needless to say, I didn’t install them.

Problem 2: I did try to remove the OEM: Both front pins were too tight, I tried unscrewing them but it felt like they were about to brake. Couldn’t get them off. The rear pins, on the other hand, turn loosely without unscrewing; I later found out that the rear pins are actually snapped in, no screws there. I know that because a friend of mine, while trying to unlock the door, popped one out (yeah, really embarrassing for a MB). I can also get pictures of the rear pin-less lock. So, all those screw-on pins advertised for the w204 don’t actually fit.

I was really looking forward to this mod. I would like to see a flat lid to cover the holes and be able to remove the pins completely. The door pins in my car are totally useless.

thanks for sharing! i was thinking of ordering some from ebay as well. it sounds like you got some plastic ones that were chrome painted. after what you just posted, i think i will pass until i can find some at a specialty store and see it in person.

I want to do the same thing for a long time now.
Jerry sells sets of nice satin silver pins at formymercedes.com, much nicer looking than the cheap plasticized chrome and matches the interior with the brush aluminum trim.

I haven't tried removing the rear pins, but I tried to unscrew the front ones and they are extremely tight. I didn't want to force it off and have it break.

I have had the same experience as your at the showroom.

This set looks nice but again, how do I take the OEM one off and would this set flush in when locked?

What option? Can't make anything out from that grainy picture. I see what you circled, but could you elaborate?

That's what I was talking about. The European version of the C class, the pin when the doors are locked goes all the way down. In the US version when the doors are locked it still sticks up actually at the height of the European's unlocked level. Then the US version goes even higher, and is quite ugly.

but as PHYBENZ explained the EU version has a concealed lock

I wanted to know if US versions have this as an option or a after market part?

It's not an option, but I am sure there is a way to order it either aftermarket or from Europe somewhere. If you ever go to Europe just stop by an MB dealer and order some I guess...

Everyone I talk to say the fronts are the most difficult. The rears should just unscrew.

One of my rear pins just popped up as a friend tried to unlock the door. I'm 100% sure that the rear pins are not screwed on but snapped in. Be careful though, I checked the pin that came off and it was cracked at the bottom (the part that locks in). I snapped it back in, but i'm sure it will snap out once again; I haven't had time to take it to the dealer for a replacement.

Where did you get the Brabus pins and how much?

Was the B engraved? Did the front pins flush when you lock it as compared to the originals that stuck out.

Door Panels

So for the rear panels its just the 2 screws and and pop off the panel correct? I know the rears are not screw on so I will have to mod the pins correct? The Brabus are engraved and they sit flush when locked.
