Engine upgrade for new C-class?

I have heard rumblings that there might be an engine upgrade or tune leading to increased power by Mercedes in the near future for one of the new C-Class models, or maybe both the C300 and C350, in order to compete with the power of the BMW 328i and 335i. Hope this is true. I am in love with the C-class body style. Would love to see a little bit more power in these engines. Can anybody confirm, anyone else heard this?

The C300 will stay where it is at right now. Only the C350 will see some engine upgrades, though hopefully DI engines will make it to the USA sometime soon.

the new SLK350 engine will be 305HP so hopefully, they'll make the same upgrade for the C350.

Awesome, thanks for the info. Yes, I agree that upgrade would make its way into the C350. Maybe for the next model year, or later than that?

Just curious, would you trade out to trade up in HP?

Trade out one of my cars, like the 335i?

Or are you asking if I already had a C350, would I trade out for the model with the engine upgrade?

either - tho I dont think you'd keep 2 of the same car would you?

I think I would trade if the engine had better HP and MB added some other mods too.

You can get close to 300hp with an ECU tune. Now as for the 335i, that's a totally different story. We all know the potential of that engine.

My current 335i sedan is putting down about 330 horsepower and 350 torque at the wheels with the Dinan software flash. I would have a hard time parting with that engine to get into a C350 with 305 horsepower. I could do it though ultimately, because I really like the look of the C-class sedan over the 3-series sedan. I don't know if I could switch from the 335i into the current C350 though, such a drop in performance.

subaru soon to be C class
would this upgrade be through a tune? I dont want to buy a c350 now and miss out on that engine upgrade. Or is it just a new motor on newer c350s

New motor hopefully with Direct Injection, new cams, and a whole lotta other things.

The 09' SLK350's engine doesn't include direct-inject as was previously thought. Its all old-fashioned tuner tricks. Not sure if this engine will make it into the 09' C350, but it just might.

'14 GLK250 Diesel
The only "upgrade" I'm looking for is the 2.2, 4 cyl diesel. That car has all the power it needs, and will get upwards of 40+ mpg.

Our C300 has more power than I can use 99.99% of the time - I'd rather give up 50 hp [and get more torque] in exchange for some real 21st century fuel economy.
