Debadging?
Who has debadged their car? What have you removed? Just the C350/300 or both designation and emblem? What are your thoughts? I will most likely be removing the designation on my Obsidian Black C350.

I will be removing the C300 and 4MATIC from my car as soon as it wams up. I like the look of debadged cars...much cleaner. Plus, it's easier to wax the car. Anyone know if the rear Mercedes emblem uses double-sided 3M tape or is it drilled into the trunk lid? If it is merely stuck on, that will come off as well.

i debadged my obsidian black c350 as well. It was fairly easy to do and the glue was still fresh so there wasent a problem taking it off. I would recommend that if you want to debadge the car, do it as soon as possible while the glue is still fresh. I just used a blow dryer and floss

Be careful when using a blowdryer, if it has two settings use the cooler of the two. If not all the dbl sided comes off or if there is residue, use 3m automotive adhesive remover. Then wash and wax the debadged area.

I really like the clean sleek look of debadging, and did it to my last car.
My c300w4 still has the badges on the trunk (though I did remove the tacky dealer badge), which looks just fine as having the C300 badge on one side and the 4matic on the other gives it a balanced look.
Since the new C is still a rare sight here in Denver I'll keep my badges on until it becomes more popular.

Two possible issues:
1. The adhesive backing will become old, preventing the badges from coming off nicely and cleanly. After a while, it will require a little more work to take off the badges.
2. After prolonged exposure to the sun, the fading on the paint will differ between the surface under the badges and the rest of the car. What you end up with is a "ghost" imprint of the badges, even after you remove them. A greater concern in dark-colored cars.
Both of the above won't become problems until a few years down the line, but they are concerns nonetheless. It is my opinion that if you wish/plan to debadge, you should do it immediately while the glue and the paint are fresh.
I thought about taking off the badges when I bought the Nissan brand new back in '02, but I didn't. Then for the next 5 years I looked at the badges everyday, wondering how much nicer it would look without them. But I couldn't do it because I was afraid the imprint would be too noticeable.
This time, I'm going to do it as soon as I pick up my car (in the next couple of days).

Someone more knowledgeable, please correct me if I'm wrong.

That's cool. I was just going off what I'd heard, not seen. Made sense to me! But I still can't go against first hand experience, I guess. =/ I'm still taking no chances though.
Oh, and I just picked up my car tonight. I can't tell if I'm excited or not. Shock, maybe? I'll know tomorrow morning.

It's REALLY easy. It took me about 30 minutes. Took a hair dryer and warmed it up a bit. Took a guitar pick (med flex teflon) and pushed it behind the letter C and the numbers and they popped off with ease. took some "Goof Away" and removed the remaining glue and used some 3M Glaze Fill and some wax to make it shine and looks like it was done by a pro.
Left the Benz logo on, but once the badge was removed it made a look like it had a wider stance.
No problem with the paint and I would just do it. If you don't have a guitar pick use some dental floss and work it behind with a sawing action.
Less than a 30 minute job and it looks AWESOME!

Just did my C300. I went out there and it was pretty sunny on the back of the car, so I didn't bother with the hairdryer. I used dental floss for a minute and then ended up using my fingernail to pop each letter and number off. There was NO residue on the car at all. I stuck the C300 letters on my Honda Elite Scooter. Now I am ridin' BIG.
