So I ordered these rims and tires from this company, and I had them shipped NEXT day air. UPS. Cost a lot more but I am going out of town and wanted to get it done. So anyhow, they were suppose to get here yesterday during the day, so I didn't want to miss the UPS guy, so I waited around at home, no big deal I work from home, but do have things to do outside my house. At the same time I am babysitting (don't ask) a friends baby. NE how o'clock rolls around 5 o'clock rolls around still no ups. So I call they say that the package will be there before PM that day if it is a residential address. Ok cool the kid has to be sleeping at around seven I can get the door throw the stuff in the garage, and get the kid to la la land. 7:30pm no UPS guy. Finally at almost 5 till 8pm the guy shows BANGING on my door as if he was locked in a gas chamber. I open the door he barks some things at me, I tell him yea yea, bring it in. Then he says he is missing a package, I have to call his cell the next morning, and this and that.. Come to find out once he brings it all to the door I am not missing a package. He dashes away. The kid is crying, I'm confused, and a bit aggravated that next day has turned into next night.
I'm not a letter writer, but you bet I did.


I doubt its discounttire that is the problem more so UPS, and when I paid 500 for shipping, I feel someone is to blame.

It happen to me when I ordered my H&R spring from tire rack, I was in the impression I will get then in 3 regular days, then I got and e-mail where I was told, the item was on back order and it will take 3 additional weeks, sucks!

i agree. OP is just venting and has trouble organizing their thoughts. with
that logic, you should blame baby for being such a light sleeper. anyhoo,
tell me how bright it is to pay $500 for shipping, somebody. wacked.

Could it be that, in order to save you on the shipping fee's, they sent the items out not priority next day which would have gotten to you earlier in the day (AM) but rather regular next day air service, which don't quote me but I think means they will deliver your package(s) by like 5 or 7pm the next day. Considering the size and cost of your shipment, I think they were just trying to help you out in keeping the shipping costs down.

I doubt they see requests for next day shipping on an entire set of rims and tires frequently, since they don't charge for regular ground shipping - it's FREE at Discount Tire Direct...

Well, as long as you got what you wanted, I guess it's all good. Enjoy your new rims and tires...

discount tire just refunded me all my shipping cost, so wack that son!

While people might say it's not Discount Tire's fault that UPS was screwed, I'd disagree. When part of my business is delivering items to people, that's part of my business. I don't get to just blame it on a vendor and walk away from it.

but lets be fair. Seems like discounttire got the shipment out on time, it's just that UPS delivered thier packag a bit later in the day. UPS says that Next day air can be delivered at "Next business day delivery by 10:30 a.m., 12:00 noon, or end of day, depending on destination". If you specified UPS Next day Early AM I can understand where you're comming from.
