Buldge in the side wall

Hey guys, while I was driving today I wasnt paying attention and hit the curb. My front right tire has a huge buldge in it. I was searching for the same tire and found a different michelin tire then what was on the car. Would it matter driving wise/wear and tare, if i had a different brand tire on my front right side of the car.

It all depends you might feel a slight pull but that's in the worst case I might check alignment on it too. I don't know

It's probably not a good idea unless you replace both front tires with that brand. Then, when the rears wear out, you can replace them with the same.

Get Pirelli PZero Nero M+S. I've had them and have found they are less expensive than Mich.(which suck a$$), Contis., and Goodyears. They perform very well and are the quietest tires I've ever owned. They also last 30,000 miles. I am not sure why they cost so much less than the competiton.

sidewall blisters are not good, it would need to be replaced as it could pop open (think of it as a large zit).
I had a sidewall blister on my other car and had it inspected and I was told it needs to be replaced from a reputable tire center.

Don't do it, stay with the same tir. Severe braking would make a big difference with grip of each tire.

Hmm... my understanding is that it shouldn't matter too much as long as the tread pattern is similar?

But yes, that tire definitely needs to be replaced. You don't want that thing suddenly blowing up on the highway.

The buldge on the sidewall indicates the tire has been damaged and continued use will compromise your safety. It can blow out anytime and you may lose control depending on the speed and road condition when it happens.

Replace it with the same brand and size only as doing otherwise will cause handling problems during heavy braking and/or adverse road conditions.

Don't put your safety and others at risk. Go to your MB dealership if you can't find the tire you need at your local tire shop.

Not sure which setup you have but I needed a tire on my car and the only place the tire is available is MB. My opinion is to replace the one tire with an original stock tire. Good Luck.

I've always been told by car tech guys, garage shop guys, tire shop guys, and friends that tires should always be replaced in pairs (left/right) at the least. The best solution, of course, is to replace all four corners at once to ensure that they all have similar tread wear.

Replacing just one tire may or may not have a noticeable effect on your car's performance. But why take that chance? Is $100~300 (whatever brand you get) more for one more tire really that much more? It's your life!

At the minimum, change both fronts (or rears, wherever the bulge is).

^ Generally you are correct, it does depend. Last year I drove over something that tore the sidewall on one of my tires I ended up buying a used tire (same brand, same size) with a similar tread pattern.

I can see a problem if you have 1 new tire on the same axle as a used one (even the rolling diameters will be different), but imo that needs to be judged on a case-by-case scenario.

^ You are 100% right, of course.

But as for me, I'd rather not take ANY chances. As I've said, we've only got one life each.
