"The new C-Class offers an entirely new sedan both inside and out. The COMAND APS multimedia and navigation system supplied by Mitsubishi Electric (MELCO) that will come as an option in the 2008 C-Class will for the first time use an HDD for navigation data and music files. The HDD will contain navigation data for all of the US and Canada and is partitioned for 4 GB of music files. The COMAND system uses a 7.0-inch flip-up LCD screen on the top of the console and a disassociated Human-Machine Interface (HMI) for much of the system’s functionality. The DVD drive, included on the system, can also be used to play audio or video. Using a hard drive instead of a DVD to store navigation data has the advantage of quicker start-up times and faster routing performance. The new navigation system recognizes spoken city and street names and even gives recommendations for lane choice when approaching a road change. The new C-Class also offers a premium harman/kardon audio system, Sirius satellite radio, Bluetooth compatibility through an embedded phone and Mercedes-Benz Tele-Aid Telematics hardware and services. The C-Class represents a large, high-volume sedan for MBUSA."
