Navigation update?
Does anyone know if MB charges for the navigation updates or is it a free service?
I've noticed that a lot of the PIO's are out of date...
Thanks

Just a few bits of info on sat-nav mapping data and POI's...
The main suppliers of the mapping data are Navteq and TeleAtlas. (I think MB use TeleAtlas, but I'm open to correction). These suppliers make available their mapping data to the sat-nav manufacturers on a periodic update basis - often 6-monthly or annually - and each supplier may provide their updates in different months. The sat-nav manufacturer then "packages" this mapping data with POI data that they buy in from both the mapping data supplier and other sources and make it available to the end-user, i.e. you or me.
These facts, i.e. the periodic nature of the updates and that the different mapping companies may release their updates at different times of the year, explain why at any particular point in time one sat-nav manufacturer's "latest" mapping will show a new road or POI that another manufacturer's doesn't. The one that today looks most out of date will appear to leapfrog the other manufacturer when they make their next mapping release, and so forth.
Oh, and regarding MB providing free updates to their map data, you are joking aren't you?

The funny thing is when I bought my car the MB dealership does'nt even show on the map. The dealership opened this year and has not been updated yet, most of my area nothing shows up.
When I go to my MB dealer It just shows a empty field!
